Relaxing weekend
We had a great weekend at Kahuroa House with extended family. Troy and Jo are wonderful hosts and we made the most of the beautiful location and very comfortable house. The sleeping layout worked perfectly for our family of 8 and the beds are very comfortable. Even the dog had a good time. Thanks Jo and Troy, you’ve got a stunning property!

Wonderful Kaiuma Stay
Amazing property which was exactly as the listing described. Funky and well-appointed, it’s a great destination if you want to do as much or as little as you want in the Marlborough Sounds. Jo and Troy are wonderful hosts and you won’t be disappointed with their beautiful slice of paradise.

Great weekend away
Myself and a group of friends visited Jo and Troy's property for the weekend. Our hosts were quick to respond to any questions prior to arrival. And upon our arrival, promptly showed us around and provided all needed information. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kaiuma Bay. The space was thoughtfully designed with lots of great touches (pizza oven, outdoor bath, outdoor fireplace, multiple showers/toilets). Troy was even kind enough to pop over and help when we were struggling with the pizza oven process. Highly recommend staying here, we would love to come back.

Fabulous location, house and hosts. We were two couples and one extra adult and it worked perfectly. Loved the views from the house, the outdoor bath, the pizza oven, the quiet. Troy and Jo were lovely hosts who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay.

A Real Getaway
What an amazing stay, lovely house, great views. A real getaway to unwind and really enjoy your surroundings. Troy and Jo were just amazing, such great communication and lovely people to deal with. They were so accommodating and showed us how to drive the pizza oven. Thank you for topping up the wood for the out door fire...what a better way to spend the evenings out on the deck with friends and family enjoying the views and wonderful skyline.

Beautiful relaxing stay
Thank you for a relaxing stay in your stunning holiday home. Just a stone's throw from the jetty for fishing, the river for swimming, and the start of the Nydia track. The house is well equipped for a small group to have a relaxing break away. Thanks again Troy!

A lovely curated experience!
A beautiful home with stunning art by Troy that was welcoming as soon as we turned up; we were greeted by Troy, Puddles and Willie, with the two dogs welcoming our little pup into their gang! Troy was excellent in showing us how to use the pizza maker, and so how could we not share a pizza dinner with them! A quiet but easy spot to spend time at, hanging on the deck while drinking good wine. Jo and Troy deliver an amazing curated experience. One of the best stays we've had in a very long time.

Picture this: you're sitting on the deck in the evening, with lush bush on your left, a crackling fire in front, and breathtaking views of Kaiuma Bay in the background. What's on your plate? A mouthwatering pizza, lovingly crafted in a wood-fired pizza oven, paired with a delightful local Marlborough Sauvignon blanc. This experience easily rivals any dining adventure at a 3-star Michelin restaurant around the world. Jo and Troy, the exceptional hosts, are complemented by their two lovable dogs, Puddlez and Willy, who make you feel right at home. You couldn't ask for a more perfect getaway.

A thoughtfully designed home that maximises its place in the landscape and provides for a relaxing, effortless family holiday. Our family loved staying here, slowing down to enjoy the multiple living areas, the woodburner and pizza oven. Jo and Troy went beyond to make our trip exceptional.

A short-stay winter's getaway surpassed our expectations. Thoughtful, contemporary design with fabulous amenities positioned to take absolute advantage of position with perfectly framed views to the stunning Pelorus Sounds and coastal bushland. Welcoming hosts greeted us on arrival with the fire going so all we had to do was decant the wine! Private, peaceful and relaxing. Soak it all up without having to leave the digs or explore the nearby bush walking tracks Even the teenager didn't miss the wi-fi!

The house is absolutely beautiful. It does not feel like a home that was made a batch but it feels like a getaway that was purpose built. We had a lovely time and stayed put most of it, just relaxing in front of the fireplace.

Gorgeous Bach
We all absolutely loved staying here- beautiful views, warm and well built bach with huge windows to take advantage of the views. Pizza oven was fun and the other outdoor fire a real treat, also the bath in the woods. Do make sure you stock up on food and supplies before arriving though as it's a 30 minute drive back to havelock-plus you won't want to leave. There's a 2-3h loop walk through the forest close by too which we enjoyed.

Beautifully designed bach in a stunning natural setting. Loved the pizza oven, outdoor bath, swing seats and beautifully framed views. Great place for an extended family to stay. Could have used a few more surfaces to put things on and a slightly bigger kitchen but these were just details. Thank you for having us stay.

Nice modern comfortable accommodation. Property has been thoughtfully designed. Faces directly in to the lush bush setting. With picture windows taking in the view of Pelorus Sound. Stunning view, very peaceful Property. Very welcoming hosts, even fresh fish for dinner thanks to Troy's fishing trip that day. Cooked pizza in the wood fired pizza oven. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing peaceful breakaway. Enjoy evenings on the deck sitting by the fire. Bush walks or relaxing and a soak in the bush bathtub is a must! Fantastic stay in Pelorus
Lovely stay at Jo and Troy's bach. Property was very cool and perfect for family of 4 plus 2 extra adults. Nice touch having an outdoor pizza oven. Fire was lit every night too. Fabulous view over Pelorus. There's also an outdoor bath at the edge of the forest which got used twice too! Troy and Jo were excellent hosts, very friendly, helpful and would highly recommend. Thank you both and see you at Te Pae!

Wonderful summer getaway spot!
Kahuroa House was cozy but comfortable for our group of 8. It was clearly built for holidaymakers in mind - we appreciated the number of separate toilets and showers, and the outside bath is close for convenience but very private. Being so close to the local jetty, the 2 kayaks are a great amenity. The sofa-bed on the upstairs landing could do with a mattress topper for sleeping, but it's still a great spot to hang out (or watch a movie if you bring a projector). Jo and Troy are wonderful hosts; they were very welcoming and helpful with the pizza oven (a fantastic feature). Their home is very close to the bach, but they respect their guests' privacy. Would absolutely recommend Kahuroa House in the future.

We had a great time at this beautiful Bach. The weather was amazing. The owners brought up an extra kayak for us which was very helpful. They were relaxed about our dogs. The only negative was that the kitchen was very small for the number of people staying (9).

Wow that was exceptional
Troy and Jo were exceptionally welcoming. Stunning accommodation and view. We loved the outside bath and pizza even we had such fun! Also the access to the local walks was stunning and managed to have a dip in the natural springs.

Beautiful Location
The location was gorgeous. Beautiful views and fishing, kayaking and walking tracks very accessible. The house itself was quite a bit smaller than the pictures indicated and for 10 people the kitchen and living area was "cosy" and not enough seating for meals. Thank goodness the weather was agreeable so we could eat outdoors. Also the place could have been a bit cleaner as I had to wipe out the fridges and drawers and wash pots and dishes before use. Bedding was clean and comfy beds.

Thanks for your review and feedback Judy, we are glad that you enjoyed staying in Kaiuma Bay and made the most of what it has to offer. Please note the images of the property are as taken and not doctored at all so that potential guests can get a feel for the space. We agree it is cosy rather than spacious (which we don't promote), and have found that many guests like this about it as it helps contribute to the holiday vibe. Perhaps it's a personal preference. On arrival we do suggest bringing the outdoor furniture in for meals if needed as you are right, indoor seating for meals is insufficient for 10 people. While the bach does sleep 10, that's a lot when staying for a long period as you have done. I will update our listing description to make this clearer for future guests. Amazing!
Such a neat place to stay, the house itself is well presented and well equipped, we had pizza's in their outdoor pizza oven, bbq on the balcony with a view, there is a beautiful nature walk with small Waterfall flowing through that connects to the property. The locals are friendly. Only downfall was there wasn't any TV or wifi. The owners of the property were very kind. Great stay!

Easter getaway!!
We really enjoyed our stay for the 3 nights! It was missing a TV for our 2 year old to chill out and relax to! Loved our outdoor pizza night. We definitely will return to Marlborough sounds but might find a batch that has its own jetti so can leave the boat there the whole time.

clean and cosy home for a quiet getaway
the house was clean and tidy, new and well equipped. the living kitchen space was a little compact, but manageable for 4 kids/4 adults. Beds comfy and the separate bedroom warm and well set up. Lovely views out toward the water with the native bush behind the house. Great walks on your doorstep. Lovely hosts, welcoming and friendly and responded quickly to our requests.

We really liked it, could fit us all in (7 adults) and able to take our grand fur baby. The bach was very nice, very clean and comfy. Plenty of wood for outside fire (which we loved) and pizza oven. Owners were great, very friendly. Let us keep to ourselves, but we knew close by if we needed anything. Only fault was couldn't use the outside bush bath, though know soon as plumber hooks it up its all good to go .. everything else was awesome. We had great time. Thanks guys

Troy and Joanne have a very casual and welcoming place. Beautiful locations with nice and easy (or not if you're into hiking) tracks and walks by the water on Nydia track. All you need to have a restfull and enjoyable time.

Kahuroa soars above Kaiuma Bay
Kaiuma Bay is a special remote location in the sounds. The house is beautifully rendered by the owners, thoughtfully created within a bush setting overlooking the bay. It perfectly accommodated our two families and we loved the outdoor fire & pizza oven. Joanne & Troy were warm & welcoming. We hope to back soon!!

Fantastic property!
We absolutely loved our stay at Kaiuma Bay - what a magic spot!! House is an amazing new build with beautiful touches such as an outdoor fire and pizza oven. Troy and Jo are amazing hosts and added in special touches for the kids which really made our stay, they are very knowledgeable on the area and have plenty of tips on hand. Only thing to note is that wifi isn’t yet available but coming soon. We will definitely be back! Thank you for welcoming us into your house.
