The total floor area of 130 square meters and consists of two levels: the ground floor and the first floor. The 19th century newly renovated “Scaleri Port Home” is located 20 meters from the marina and is comprised of two floors. Both floors feature infrastructure of high – quality and austere aesthetics with all modern appliances, amenities, and comforts.
The house offers two large bedrooms, both located on the first floor. On the ground floor where there is also a large sofa bed for 2 guests, there is a fully equipped kitchen and a large sitting and dining area for all guests and can accommodate up to four (7) people. Scaleri Port Home maintains the traditional characteristics of Kalymnos local architecture. It draws you into the history and atmosphere of this unique island and makes you want to be part of its laid back lifestyle
Located in the center of the island's capital a few minutes walk from the market, the taxi and bus stations, the Archeological museum, the port, the Cathedral, and the Townhall.
The house is located in the neighborhood known among locals as Patithries, perched between the bustling marina and port zone and the residential area that thrives around the traffic regulated pedestrian street. This quiet artery just next to the commercial center of the island was born when the council’s life quality committee acted upon an older decision and diverted traffic away from the alley leading up to the Cathedral. This has created a small oasis popular with locals and visitors alike. shops and ‘ouzeri’s’ full of vibe, an alternative grocery store with local organic and cooperative sourced products, restaurants ‘bakalogatos’ and ‘to Steki ton naftikon’ offering quality traditional meze’s and legendary pastry shop ‘Mihalaras’ complete a patchwork of sounds, smells, sights and tastes to explore. Although close to shops, bars, restaurants, and nightlife, it is very quiet and isolated from the street noise and inside the maximum tranquility reigns and will help you relax. The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ was built in 1861. Its silver dome dominates the waterfront of Pothia, while its interior is adorned with a magnificent temple crafted by the great sculptor Giannoulis Halepas and paintings by local artists including the owner’s great-grandfather, Georgios Oikonomou.
One can wander in the tiny alleys and stumble upon sponge warehouses including the old factory owned by the renowned sponge merchant and benefactor Nikolaos Vouvalis, now housing a primary school.
The Kalymnos archaeological museum housing treasures from the island's rich history is a 7-minute walk away.
Scaleri draws its name from the family that first owned and lived in the property, and scaleri, meaning the step of a stair in the local dialect.
