The Sentinel is set in a beautiful location. It has the feel of a zen oasis and the views of Kootenay Lake are majestic. The facility is beautiful, comfortable, and warm. I would have appreciated more hotel level toiletries in the room considering the rates are comparable to those of good hotels. Carpeting in the room was a poor choice for a modern facility - gets dirty easily and it is hard to clean as opposed to hard floors, especially because you are in the midst of an ootdoor setting: leaves, mud, debris are on everyone’s footwear. We wanted to use the hot tub early in the morning before breakfast - found it with the cover off, empty glasses around and wine boxes from the users of the night before. The water was cold despite it was set to the max temperature setting. Disappointing.
I suppose the idea is to leave the guests as free as possible, which is nice, but that puts too much reliance on the guests to be disciplined and clean up after themselves.
There is new and modern furniture everywhere, and some of the pieces are already stained and somewhat dirty, after only one season.
The place is lovely, but I am not sure yet if I want to go back. Maybe.
