"1. someone is giving this undeserved high marks so I went low to help bring some reality. 2. Checkin is 3 and checkout is 10 AM, which is ot standard for the industry; 3. I requested an early checkin. They didn't respond. I showed up two hours early and they asked for 4000 yen (roughly half the cost for a full day); 4. the rooms were made for cabins on a small boat, small with quirky plumbing that serves both sink and shower. It's clean. The

"This traditional merchant house converted hotel is lovely. We own the entire building with two floors. One tiny living room on the ground floor, a bath house, a separate toilet near the entrance, along with a spacious bathroom with the second living room on the second floor. It’s airy and full of scent of wood. However, the bedroom is facing the road without sound proof windows, it was very noisy throughout the night. "

"This hotel was very clean and looked very new. The room was really big by Japanese standards and the layout was great!
Breakfast
was a good value as well. Check in/out was easy. I'd recommend this hotel instead of some other ones that are closer to the train station because those looked rather dated by comparison. This property was a 20 min walk from the station or a 7 min taxi ride. There's plenty of
restaurants
around the hotel. It will likely be my go to when I'm in Tsuchiura again."
