"We loved our stay at Hakone Airu. It was about ten minutes walking from the train station (hill at the end a little steep with backpacks) though we didn’t have our biggest luggage with us as we used a forwarding service to Kyoto. The hotel had lovely private hot springs for use downstairs but we also opted for private hot spring in our room that I was sad to leave. Staff were attentive and the drinks readable priced at the bar. Had a really nice peach yuzu there! Food was very traditionally Japanese which forced me to try things outside of my comfort zone and I loved that as an experience! I learnt to like things that I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. We stayed here in January 2026 to celebrate our 10th anniversary together and it will hold such a special place in my heart as we got engaged here also xx"
