Unfortunately disappointed, will not stay again

The room I booked wasn't available because it sustained property damage from a previous renter. The host reached out and asked if I would be willing to stay in a different room and gave me a 40 refund because it was smaller. I never saw the original room but it seemed a lot smaller. No kitchen, no lounge chairs. It felt like a Motel 6. And it shared a wall with a family with a child. I have a sound sensitive dog so I reached out to the host because I couldn't bring my dog inside. She was responsive but I had to wait until the child went to bed before I could bring my dog in (after 9:30pm). I feel the description of the property as "Charming Barn" is misleading. There are multiple mobile homes on the property and no barn. The water pressure was too low to take a shower. And there was a dead goat on the hillside that the vultures were eating (along with 2 live ones). I gave the host feedback so hopefully it improves for the next visitor. Pros: the host was very responsive, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Did not stay there. I received no entry instructions on the day of arrival. They did not answer my messages. I called multiple times; no answer and voicemail was full so I couldn’t leave a message. VRBO tried to call, no answer. I tried for 2 hours after check in time. No responses. Found out later in the evening that they expected me to just show up at the house and they were waiting! I’ve never experienced a check in process like that. Would have been fine if they had just communicated this but they were totally unavailable
