"Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great for walking the waterfront or downtown shops. We did a Kenai tour and drove to the marina (I think we could have walked there along the waterfront if we were feeling energetic). They let us check-in in a little early since our room was ready. That was great, and allowed us to start exploring. We had a king room. Small bathroom, but great shower water pressure. The toilet was a bit finicky/clogged immediately, but maintenance responded right away. Parking is on the street out front which could probably get tough during the busy summer. The room needed a smart tv (it’s 2026) so we could log into streaming services like Netflix, Prime, etc. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel ($22/person which seemed expensive for what they offered). We would stay there again if it’s not summer."

Trail Lake Lodge

"Trail Lake Lodge was a convenient and strategically located stop on our Alaska road trip. We were able to drive from Anchorage to Seward, visit Exit Glacier, and then continue to the lodge, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. The lodge has a classic Alaska character and is in a beautiful setting. Our room was clean and the rate was lower than many lodging options in the region. The check-in experience felt impersonal. While the staff member was professional and corrected a billing issue promptly, the interaction lacked the warmth and hospitality we experienced at other Alaska lodges. The room was modest. The bathroom was very small and showed its age. The lakeside deck overlooking the water didn’t have outdoor seating available to relax and enjoy the views. We also encountered some confusion during our departure. The lodge was locked when we tried to check out around 7:30 a.m. Eventually, a staff member let us in and explained their key drop box system. Overall, Trail Lake Lodge provided a clean and reasonably priced place to stay in a great location. The setting is attractive and the lodge has a classic Alaska feel, but the dated room, tiny bathroom, lack of accessible lakeside seating, and somewhat indifferent service kept the experience from feeling particularly welcoming. It met our needs for a one-night stay, but it was not a memorable lodging experience. We visited early in the season, so perhaps they were still gearing up for the summer."

Land's End Resort

"We loved our stay here! Beautiful location and friendly, helpful staff made it even better. Loved the ease and privacy of using the hot tub. It did have a few jets they weren’t working properly, but worked well for two people. We stayed in mid ship loft king. Bedroom was upstairs and had comfortable king bed and amazing views from the balcony. We enjoyed eating next to the window and taking in the view. It had bath and sink area and living area down. Nice to have mini fridge with freezer and microwave and coffee maker. Coffee, mugs, and bath necessities are all available. Would recommend and stay again. Thank you to the two evening staff ladies that helped us so much!"

Soldotna Inn

2/10 Terrible

"took my dog out to potty, & get food for her @ 11:05pm - when she has to go, we go - & now i am locked both out of our room (which my father paid for). PLEASE REFUND HIS CARD, right now. see receipt. we get to spend the night (not in a bed to cradle my bones) but in my jeep. no hot water, no bathroom. no heat, light, outlets. no phone. no key? no service. unacceptable. inhumane. uncivilized. disrespectful behavior, yes. did this happen to us last night? yes. the three nights i paid out of pocket for it? YES. $509. you don't treat dogs like that; you do not get to charge me or anyone in my family for it either. i have photos & video of everything, including each of five people whom i told this was happening to us, too. witnessed. i will never come back to soldotna inn; they are not likely too either make this right, EXPEDIA? i even bought trip insurance - or d to through you. i'm handing thidms ovrer the you; the staff @ soldotna inn mor myself could reach the oner Dr. Shipping Wang. i called her personal cell phone. this is above my paygrade but not Expedia's. we are done & want to get over it. i have things to do but no accommodation here, in which to conduct them from. fine. i have a rig; i have my K9 Service: MEDIC - "Mobility Support" (Sterling). i am from here, Soldotna."
