Summary:
The Saltaire Cottages are a set of quaint, semi-ocean front properties located at milepost 2.5 in Kitty Hawk, NC. This landmark has been welcoming families to the Outer Banks for over 50 years! We have 1-4 bedroom cottages that each have a kitchen, family room and screened balcony. Our private beach access is directly across the street and a beautiful pool with elevated sun decks is on site. Each unit has heat/air, TV's, stove/oven, microwave, Keurig, toaster, pots/pans, dishes and silverware

The Space:
This 3 bed / 2 bath cozy cottage offers all the amenities in a beautiful and peaceful environment.

The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable with a large screened in porch with limited ocean view. There are flat screen TVs and cable TV.

As a guest, you will have access to your reserved room with:

The Neighborhood:
You can stroll to some great local restaurants or take a short drive to nearby attractions such as H20BX water park, The Wright Brothers Memorial and Jockeys Ridge State Park.

Getting Around:
Parking is always free on site for paid guests.

You can walk or bike to many restaurants and attractions. The beach is directly across the street and you can walk on the beach or walk/bike "The Beach Road" to other restaurants and attractions such as Kitty Hawk Pier.

Uber/Taxi services are available.

Other Things to Note:
A stay at the Saltaire Cottages will require you to climb stairs. It is 5 stairs to this unit.

The place was nice and clean. They had the basics for cooking and eating in. We didn’t talk much with the staff but the one person we talked to seemed nice. Wish they would have answered questions though. 3 unanswered questions and one got answered by the guy we talked to the others went unanswered until 2 days after our visit. I like the layout

Family Getaway

My family of 4 enjoyed our stay at the Saltaire Cottages. The location was better than I could have asked for - literally steps away from a beautiful beach with very few people. We did travel in Late May so it may have been before the crowds but it was perfect. There is a local bar and burger joint steps from the cottages which made it great for an evening drink and snacks. They also had delicious burgers! It was the perfect family vacation with some adventures - Wright Brothers museum and Jockey Ridge State Park and lots of beach and relaxing time. The cottage had everything we needed and it exceeded our expectations- comfy beds, clean unit, lots of space and stocked kitchen. We will definitely recommend to others and come back ourselves.

Family friendly with convenient beach access

We recently stayed at this vacation rental with a group that included both young kids and elderly family members, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for our needs. The few stairs leading into the units made it easy for everyone to get around, allowing our elderly loved ones to join us on the trip without any hassle. The private beach access was incredibly convenient, and the units are close enough to the beach that quick trips back to the rental were a breeze. We also appreciated that beach gear rentals were available on-site, so we didn’t have to worry about bringing all of our own gear. The kids absolutely loved the pool, and it was a refreshing way to cool off after a day at the beach. The staff were all incredibly nice and accommodating, and they communicated thoroughly both before and after our stay, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and I highly recommend this rental for families looking for a comfortable and convenient beach getaway.

Fun in Kitty Hawk

We had a fabulous time! Saltaire unit 12 was perfect for our group of 8, clean, spacious, well appointed kitchen, easy check in and out and the property manager was easy to get ahold of. We hope to make this a yearly event!!

Such a helpful and welcoming staff!

We had a wonderful visit to Saltaire. We were able to check in early, the staff was readily available to help us with small requests such as an extra fan and lamp, and the place was affordable with very convenient access to the beach. We were highly impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Loved It!

Had a great time. The cottage was large enough for my family of 5 and my mother too. The place was one of the cleanest places I’ve ever stayed in. It had all the amenities we need to feel like we were right at home. The staff was friendly and helped when needed but didn’t interfere with our stay at all. It’s right at the beach and next door to a restaurant and a bar if that’s what your looking for. Overall we will definitely be picking this place again in the future.

A Perfect Fit for our Family

We are a family of 6 with 4 kids ages 9-15. PROS: Affordable (off-season). The layout of the unit is perfect, the screened in porch is a beautiful feature, and the view of the ocean was the most welcomed surprise! The location of the complex is so convenient and the #12 unit is tucked in the back so it’s super quiet. CONS: It should have been a lot cleaner than it was. Tiles in the bathroom are painted over and the paint is chipping off. Our toilet wasn’t the strongest. The smoke detector started chirping in the ver early morning hours before we left. That was annoying! We would have LOVED to spend time up on the viewing decks, but they were closed off-season. Maybe add some to access from outside the pool area? All in all though, we will most likely return in the near future!

Pros and Cons

Excellent location -- access to both beach and pool were the highlights of our first-ever trip to OBX. The cottage was well-designed with plenty of space for our two families to spend time without feeling like we were on top of each other. The pool is well-maintained, clean, and oftentimes we were the only ones using it. Lots of little extras that made the stay very convenient and special: Easy parking in the back lot, outdoor shower for rinsing, a community grill and hammock area, great views from the raised seating areas by the pool, laundry facility on site (bring quarters!). The downsides were that the floors had likely never been mopped (our kids' feet were black almost immediately upon arrival just from walking around inside, so we stuck to wearing our sandals at all times), and there were a few cosmetic issues, like peeling finish in the bathroom (tub, toothbrush/soap holders), bedroom drawers that stick and required brute strength to open/close, as well as bath/bedroom doors that are out of alignment so they either are difficult to open/close or cannot close completely at all. There was also a bathroom towel leftover from a previous guest hanging behind the bathroom door. Generally, it was a good value and great location, just has a few hiccups to be mindful of.

Relaxing Family Vacation

We stayed with our extended family and had a great time! It was our first time visiting OBX and we enjoyed it. The cottage looked just like the pictures and was clean and inviting. It was also in a great location, just a quick walk to the beach and a drive away from great restaurants. We will be coming back.

Homey and comfortable!

We had a wonderful experience at the Saltaire property. The team was friendly and helpful. Mike was very accommodating. The cleaning staff were helpful with suggestions on where to go and were approachable and friendly. The pool and location to the ocean are what enticed us to book and having a more urban location for the young adults in our party. Our cottage had been renovated recently and was decorated nicely. Beds and furniture were comfortable. There is some wear showing on the decking with a few nails not flush and the paint on the counters has been scratched. (A cutting board may help with this in the kitchens).The door to our cottage also did not lock with the combination due to the higher humidity. Manually, it locked with a little wiggling. The pool had a few tiles missing but I noted the pool company there checking water quality. These in no way detracted from our stay and we would definitely book again. It was a very homey and comfortable stay. Thank you Saltaire!

Location is spot on but cleanliness was not

I booked this last minute for a family weekend getaway and found the location ideal for any beach goer as well as close proximity to local restaurants and walking distance to an ice cream shop. The condo itself was far from clean which was a big disappointment. I was thankful I brought my own Lysol wipes and spray. The stove still had grease splatter, the dining table had crusty something leftover and the carpet left my children’s feet black. Upon arrival and seeing this, I went through a container of wipes cleaning this place. I will say the property management/owner were very quick to respond and offered to have it cleaned again. They were professional and accommodating with requests. I did also notice the linen provided were all brand new. Overall, the cleaning company needed to be fired but the location of this property was great!

Perfect little cottage!

Cottage #11 was great to us. It's the last cottage that will be renovated soon, but we had a blast with it just the way it is! Charming, spacious, efficient and a great location. Mike, the property manager, was super accommodating and and so kind! The beach is a quick walk across the street and the pool was awesome. Something about this little spot feels good and gave us that relaxed beach vacation feeling that (these days) is hard to get. Highly recommend!

Making the reservation was a breeze, check in was easy, and the cottahr was great! Clean, roomy, and a great location. The owner, Daniel, was just an email away and was very accommodating! Mike, who works on the site was always busy but never too busy to help us with questions and accommodations.

Perfect family beach getaway!

This was our second time staying at Saltaire Cottages, first time in the 3bedroom cottage. Dan is extremely responsive and the check in process was seamless. Despite having satellite during our stay, everything else was perfect!! The location couldn’t better- beach access is right across the street. We will definitely return!
