The Luxury Lodge is part of Hvammsvik Estate, a private 1200 acre estate along the coast enjoying spectacular nature and views, only 40 min away from Reykjavik. The Luxury Lodge was completely renovated in the 2017 and is part of Hvammur Farm. It has an exceptional panoramic view overlooking a lake and the Whale Fjord bay. It's a rustic but luxurious lodge with all the modern and updated appliances. The floor plan is open with a new kitchen that opens up to the dining area and living room. The open floor plan with windows on all sides highlight the amazing views from all angels. The lodge has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The Lodge is ideal for a family or two couples. The Lodge is full of original Icelandic art by many of Iceland's most promising artists however ultimately its all about the surrounding mountains, the ocean and becoming one with nature. Starting in September you can see some of the most incredible northern lights covering the sky with their magic. Since its part of a private estate you can walk around the property for hours and in the surrounding mountains in complete privacy simply enjoying the peacefulness, the ocean and the mountains.
Hvammsvik Estate consists of several old farm buildings and a large barn that have been newly renovated to meet all modern needs while still keeping the integrity and rustic charm of its origin. One of the unique elements of Hvammsvik Estate is that it is entirely self sufficient both for its hot and cold water both of which are sourced within the Estate. There is a Geothermal hot spring at the oceans edge which is available to our guests and the same well provides all the hot water for the property. There are over 30 different types of birds in and around Hvammsvik. Wild sheep roam around and if you are lucky you can spot the Arctic Fox roaming around. The Arctic Fox is a small and completely harmless Fox that changes colors with the seasons. There are also a lot of mussels around the islands on the property that are accessible in low tide and are delicious to cook. The season for picking fresh Mussels is September through December. We also highly recommend that our guests visit the newly opened Hvammsvik Hot Springs on the estate where you can enjoy eight hot springs that linger on the edge of the ocean. At the hot springs you can also enjoy great small dishes and a delicious seafood soup from our bistro, Stormur.
