"It’s Thailand. It’s a small remote island. It’s not easy to maintain excellent standards. Adjust your expectations and you’ll be happy here. It always makes me smile when you read ‘luxury’ ‘upgradé ‘deluxe’ … they mean different things when island hoping in Thailand. This place has decent bathroom with hot water, aircon and small fridge. That’s considered luxury. I’m saying all this because people write bad reviews because they are comparing 5 star plus in the west. It’s a very decent place to stay. Pretty much on the beach. I felt safe. It was quiet. Great beach massage just in front of property. Breakfast is satisfactory. Coffee was undrinkable to me but I watched others drink. Would I stay again ? Yes … if the price was right."

"Castaway Resort Koh Lipe has one of the best atmospheres of anywhere we stayed in Thailand. The whole place has such a relaxed, beachy vibe and the beachfront setting is beautiful. We loved spending time there, the food was great, the staff were lovely and even the resort cats were adorable. Happy hour was also excellent 🍹 We stayed in a breezy beachfront bungalow which looked amazing and really suited the island feel of the resort. The only reason we personally wouldn’t stay again is the lack of air conditioning. Because of the jungle surroundings there are a lot of mosquitoes, so you need to sleep under the mosquito net, but once it’s down it blocks most of the airflow from the ceiling fan. We found it very difficult to sleep comfortably in the heat, even with the doors open and fan on. We completely understand the eco/natural concept of the resort, but adding fly screens to the doors/windows would make a huge difference as guests could keep airflow moving without worrying about mosquitoes. Overall though, a genuinely lovely resort with an amazing atmosphere and somewhere we’d absolutely return to spend time at while visiting Koh Lipe."

"It was fresh and service was excellent. Compared to the dinner menu the quality was not as good and could be improved in terms of quality and flavour. Room cleaning was excellent! Staff were all delightful. No pool, but why would you with such an amazing beach"

"Fantastic resort in a beautiful location on the sunrise beach. The staff were very friendly & helpful especially the managers DK & May. The food was great with a large selection for breakfast. There are two beautiful pools one with a swim up bar. The room was modern with beautiful sea views. It’s an ideal location on the island & just a short walk away from Sunset beach & walking street where all the restaurants & bars are. We would highly recommend this hotel but not for families with children. We feel it’s more of a couples resort or families with adult children."
