Island Sunset Villa House Policies

We are a legally permitted short term rental located on agricultural land in Kula and subject to the rules a regulations established by Maui County. Island Sunset Villa is located in a residential neighborhood. Please respect our neighbor’s privacy. Quiet hours are between 9:00 pm and 8:00 am. Amplified sound is not permitted at any time.
1. Smoking is NOT allowed in the house or within 20 feet downwind outside only.
2. People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight on the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest.
3. The owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.
4. Keep the property and all furnishings in good order
5. Only use appliances for their intended uses
6. Pets are not allowed.
7. Parking: Guests may park on the circle drive or under the carport. There are multiple parking spaces on the concrete drive. You must park on the property.
8. Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. Bath towels should remain in the house. Beach towels are provided for the beach.
9. Water and Septic: The house has a cesspool. It is not connected to county sewer. The system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER. No feminine products, tissues, or wipes of any kind should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that improper materials or products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages.
10. Storms: No refunds will be given due to weather.

Great quiet stay upcountry

We (four adult friends) had a great, relaxing stay at this home. It's upcountry, which means it's a 20-30 minute drive at least to most attractions, but the tradeoff is a beautiful view and a quiet space to come home to. (You're also much closer to Haleakala than staying in the more populated areas.) The house itself had everything we needed and was really comfortable - lots of outdoor space, equipped kitchen, space is as advertised. Crispin was really communicative and helpful, and being able to borrow beach gear from the house was a great bonus. We'd definitely stay again!

Char is great and the sunset villa treated us so nicely

We stayed in the villa with some friends for our wedding, the property is gorgeous with many fruit trees and flowering plants to look at. The sunset bedroom itself has excellent views of the bay down towards Kihei and the weather up in Kula is excellent averaging 10 degrees cooler than down at the beach. Would happily stay again!

A beautiful, spacious, relaxing home with completely outfitted kitchen and super comfortable beds. Located away from it all, but you are not far from the ocean or the mountains. Views of the ocean to the west and north! The hosts are very friendly and eager to make your stay as perfect as they can. Awesome place!!

Very nice property, they had all the extras that we loved. Zip lock bags for snacks for grandson, spices for nice dinners, even lotion for when we ran out. Best for hubby was cold tablet and lozengers when he felt sick last day.

Up Country Kula

Had a great stay at the villa. Char met us at the driveway to familiarize us w the property. Private and relaxing with everything that you would need for house and the beach. Scenic views from every spot in the house. The bath house - best place to shower any time of day! Loved that there were cards and board games to play. Close to any activity or destination on the island. Thanks for a great adventure and lifelong memories.

Excellent stay at a great property

We had an amazing stay at this property. The property itself is as described but what made it next level was the host’s responsiveness and flexibility. Crispin was super communicative throughout the stay and took plenty of time to help orient us during the check in. We had a significant flight delay on the way out and he let us stay until it was time for departure and rescheduled his cleaner to come later to prep the place for the next guest. The unit itself was clean, well apportioned and as described. We would definitely stay here the next time we visit.

Avoid the resorts and stay here

It was lovely to find a house instead of having to stay in one of those golf course condos or "resorts." Kula is not a tourist town but is a good central location from which to explore the island. If you want to be in the middle of the tourist experience, do not stay here. If you want to be able to dip your toe in, but then retreat to a calm, quiet neighborhood, this is the place. There are nearby activities such as para-gliding, "road to Hana," farms, restaurants, etc. Paia, the nearest largish tourist town, is great. Only 20 minutes away. A smaller tourist town is even closer. The house has some minor wear and tear but was very comfortable and spacious. The patio view is top notch. We had a great experience.

Cozy Upcountry

My wife and I, 3 adult children, and our 2 yr old grandson spent 6 nights at this wonderful property. Having been along the coast in Ka’anapali area twice before we decided to go upcountry. We were not disappointed. The home was beautiful, well laid out, well appointed, and made a perfect home base for going to Haleakala, the road to Hana, beaches, and just an overall different vibe from the typical beach touristy scene. We still traveled to the beaches on the northwest side to hit some favorite spots, just allowing a little extra time to get there. Our host, Char, was super. She met us the day of arrival, gave us the tour and layout, and checked on us periodically to see how we were doing. She certainly has thought of most everything you might need for an enjoyable vacation. We particularly enjoyed the west facing lanai for evening sunsets and ocean views while relaxing after long days out and about. Would highly recommend

Two weeks of Maui Bliss

This private, secluded retreat was the ideal central location for good friends to vacation together and explore this tropical paradise. It took a few days to relax from our "other lives" but we soon felt the aloha spirit and became fully immersed in island life and all the beauty and warmth Maui has to offer. Kula is a quiet agricultural community with one of the best Farmer's Markets on the island most Saturday mornings. It is very easy to feel at home here and it fully lives up to its name "Island Sunset Villa". The sunsets are truly memorable, sleeping is effortless with the trade winds circulating cool breezes throughout the the villa all night, and the mornings are delightful as you are greeted by a cacophony of bird songs. The villa lives up to its descriptions in all respects and the kitchen was wonderful - complete with all the essentials for meal preparation, and plenty of room for many cooks! We loved the tropical orchard and flowers surrounding the villa. The home was clean and tastefully furnished and was well stocked with beach gear and fins for snorkeling. Char was a wonderful and very accommodating host who was responsive to our questions or issues. She was most helpful and genuinely wants to be sure everyone of her guests has the best time possible. She was full of information and recommendations of places to eat, shop and play. Kula has a number of wonderful gems including a delicious french pastry cafe. We departed refreshed with much aloha.

The property is very tranquil and in a quiet location with beautiful temps, especially in the evening and amazing views. The property is well stocked with everything you can ask for, including family entertainment such as board games, etc. - a home away from home! Perfectly Beautiful

This location is absolutely perfect to reach every activity on Maui. Very spacious and the beds are super comfortable. The view is beyond words. More provisions than you can use. The owners are full of valuable information to make your vacation perfect. The Kula Bistro is less than 2 miles, and serves breakfast and dinner.
