"Whole hotel looks like it was good 20 years ago and someone just forgot to do anything with it since. We booked a non smoking room but when we entered the room the smoke was so heavy I could taste it and there were burn marks all over the carpet. We asked to be moved and got a new room which smellt like a mixture of smoke and peppermint airfreshener to hide it. At least in this room it was still manageable. Stains in the carpet but bedlinnen and bathroom were clean. Personell was friendly...

"The location was magical, so close to the forest with a small shrine near by, just over the mountain from one of the major shrines on the Kumano Kodo it was a nice place to land. The onsen at the hotel is small but better than the public one."

"Highly recommend. Bath house/onsen was wonderful and accommodating when weather was bad or good. Beautiful spacious rooms with tatami, especially ocean view ones are worth the extra cost. Staff were mostly friendly- minus one star due to the outdoor pool being unkept- apparently algae growing and appeared unavailable. Otherwise,"

"Being able to walk on the beach in 20 seconds is an absolute dream! We had such a wonderful stay here and Shirahama is such a cute town! The hotel was wonderful for our family of 4 with kids sleeping on traditional futons and two large twins available for us! There are partitions to separate the rooms. My only slight issue was wanting the futon room to be more blackout as the sun rises early! The housekeeping doesn’t clean everyday but they do drop off amenities. The hotel breakfast was wonderful highly recommend the buffet as most places aren’t open early."
