Could not park our standard SUV in the garage it was too low and the neighbors parked their vehicle away from their garage making it difficult to get in and out. Ants in the kitchen and upstairs.

Disappointment

The property is setup for people that are under average in height and body size. Stairs are steep, narrow, slippery and the handrail is NOT to building code. The stairs are an accident waiting to happen. I am of average height and all you can see in the mirrors are my shoulders. The garage door opener did not operate, and owner has personal golf cart in garage. Advertised provided beach equipment was not available. This is a poorly maintained and advertised property. Shame on the owner and property manager.

Great location

We really enjoyed our stay in the area. The inside looks nicer than the outside. It could use some improvement with the walkway due to plants/bushes blocking the path but overall we really enjoyed the space!

Worst property manager

Do not stay here. Awful place. Listed as a 6 BR place, but the pullout couch was broken on first night. Manager sent a repair guy who just cut out the supports so it couldn’t open or close. We called 5-6 times and even visited the office. They did nothing. Toilet seats loose and fell off. Heat doesn’t work. Kitchen implements limited. Terrible place to stay. After an 8-day stay, manager delivered a new couch 30 minutes before we left but just left the broken one in there. If I could give zero stars I would. The only thing worse than the house was the service of La Jolla Rentals. Stay away from their places. Terrible, terrible service.

Great clean condo. Only negative is that there is no outside seating in the sun. But you are very close to the beach.

Dangerous

The place has a great location and size etc but was let down by serious issues that were dangerous...this was communicated to the management who promptly called, said they would fix them and then did nothing and we heard no more... On arrival there was a strong smell of Indian takeaway food and gas. The dials on the stove were all at off but one was leaking. The shower screen in the master was a huge glass slider which was hanging off the runner. It was only supported by a small piece of plastic which stopped it sliding down into the bath and into your ankles. We were able to work around these hazards but the place should’ve been checked before our arrival and then fixed as promised...at least maybe a follow up call.

Right down the street from the best surfing beach!

We're not surfers, but loved spending hours on the beach watching the surfers and the sunset! We loved our stay here, where we were just a few houses from the most spectacular beach in LaJolla! Walking along the beach road was such a treat, as was riding the bike (disappointingly, only one of the two bikes was rideable) around the neighborhood!

Could be Better

Unit was very clean, close to the beach, and everything in the house worked. So what could be better? Working beach bikes as advertised. More of a view since a new unit has been built up between the unit and the beach so no first floor view. Directions for the fireplace. Outside needs TLC- plants need trimming, found trash next to the door, and if the weather was hot broken fan and no AC would be an issue. We enjoyed our stay, but would not return or recommend! Fortunately there are so many things to do in San Diego that we spent little time in the condo. Seating area was very uncomfortable. Obvious electrical issues because when the dishwasher was on it made the lights dim on and off. Ants showed up on the kitchen counter by the third day. Fans didn’t work in the bathrooms. Obvious mold problems in one of the showers.

AMAZING!

Upon arrival, the place was clean and looked just like the photos. No AC but it's not needed as there is a wonderful breeze with the windows open. Neighborhood is completely safe and actually the neighbors were super sweet as well. There's lots of things that are walking distance like dry cleaners, 7-11, Mexican food and the beach of course is super close. The beach is a swimming beach which is a plus and lots of surfers go there. I rented a pack n play and high chair but I wasn't pleased with either 1. The pack n play was filthy and the high chair was inadequate for the pub table height. Within less than 24 hours they had already dropped off a new pack n play and a new highchair which were both perfect. Also, the bikes had flat tires, in less than 24 hours they dropped off a pump for the tires. They are SUPER responsive to calls and emails even if they are closed. The garage seemed tight for parking but we had a minivan so that's why, it worked but just tight. I also ordered an air mattress which was in excellent condition too. The bed sheets were not scratchy, they seemed like good quality so were the towels. I have nothing but positive things to say about this place and we DEFINITELY would stay here again. This was our first time in San Diego, I'm so glad we chose La Jolla and I'm so glad we chose Bonair Beach House. We were 4 adults and 2 small children and this place was perfect for us. The location is great and so is the place itself. They provide some paper towels and toilet paper. The kitchen has basic amenities, microwave, stove/oven, toaster, coffee maker, dish washer etc. We only cooked breakfast and ate out for other meals. But it was convenient to have the kitchen. Thank you Bonair Beach House you made our vacation memorable!

Great location and very clean!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bonair Beach House. It was just a short walk down to the Windansea Beach and so convenient for all of La Jolla. We are already considering coming back next year. I will say that by the end of the trip we started to notice ants (which is apparently a common problem in California) so I just recommend that you keep all food put away in the fridge or closed up tight. We kept things clean but my son had left a box of crackers open and they seemed to gravitate towards that. This didn't concern me too much since the place was so clean overall. I'm slightly OCD about cleanliness so this was a big deal to me--it was really clean! The only other issue was the heat in the middle of the day without air conditioning but really it wasn't too bad since we weren't there much in the day and by night time completely cooled off. I hesitate to recommend this place because I don't want it to be booked up when we want to come back! :)

A block from paradise.

Very well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great. It was easy to get to multiple beaches and less than 30 minutes to the zoo and Sea World.

The property was as advertised. It is in a nice location. The unit was clean and ready to go.

The beach here did not have much sand for most of the day due to tides. Very pretty beach and the rocks are cool. Neighborhood is nice.

It's easy to see why they should call this place La Bonita!

Our family of four had a wonderful stay in this lovely complex! The unit was extremely clean, loved cooking in the kitchen, the additional bathrooms are definitely a plus and every night we slept with the balcony doors open to catch the breeze coming off the ocean. The ocean is a short walk from the unit and watching the surfers was amazing. The local grocery store (Von's) had everything we needed for meals as well as the unit having a well stocked kitchen for food prep. Our only "glitch" was the initial pass code didn't work....no problem! We called the emergency number on our confirmation papers, they reset the password on the key pad and in 6 minutes we were in the unit. Even with this slight "burp", I would still give it a 5 star rating. At first, I was a tad hesitant, simply because we were going off pictures and reading the reviews from other folks. You never really know until you arrive at the place you've rented.....it could be good or bad. But we are so glad we took the plunge and rented the beach house! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!!

GREAT location, good accomodation for our family

The condo is extremely well located - walk out to see the sea and stroll along the water. Jog or bike to the cove at La Jolla. The price was fair. Walk out to get bagels, wine, coffee, dinner. Just right for us (visiting grandparents who wanted to have locally based grandchildren stay with us). Parking on the street was always available, and the garage was very convenient for one of two cars. Everything in the house worked well and layout was just right for holiday visit. Everything was in good condition, nicely done and clean. Only complaint was that the furnishings in the living room - two chairs and a sofa were very uncomfortable (odd complaint, I know) and that there was very limited plateware (so we had to continually wash them, pretty as they were). It had everything else we needed in the kitchen to cook and serve (blender, toaster, mixer, microwave, coffee maker) and the supplies were also well taken care of. Beach towels and toys and bikes were all welcomed. Company was available and responsive when we had trouble with the lock.
