We had been looking forward to our Maui vacation for quite some time. On day 3 (of 8) our power just went off around noon. We thought it was an outage and just went about our day not thinking much of it. Upon return the power was still out, yet everyone around us had power.
We called the number and then was told maintenance was coming and that was that. Maintenance has zero idea what to do and it became a blame game right away. “The person with the key needs to open the panel they are unreachable “
Then nothing . No instructions, help, solutions. We call the emergency line and a man that was clearly annoyed we were bothering him said the power would be restored tomorrow and can we make do without power for the night. We have 2 small children and no desire to “make do” on our vacation .
So, exasperated emergency man sends us to another condo. We take some belongings over there and leave the rest behind. The following day comes and it was silent at condo #1. Not one person came by to fix the electricity, Yet, no phone calls , instructions, apologies once again.
We called to inquire what we do now. Apparently the power will be back the NEXT day now. Somehow this has clearly become our problem and we had to seek out any instructions from the management company.
Next day, electricity man arrived and fixed the problem while we were out for the day. We return to get our things from condo #2 to take back to condo #1. We are locked out. Call exasperated emergency line man and are told we will receive a code good for one hour only to get our things out. Again, we feel like this is our fault:
Eventually, we get things back in power outage condo. However, the whole situation was handled so poorly I will never be back. Who needs this kind of treatment on a trip you were really looking forward to? Things happen, but an ounce of empathy would have gone a long way here.
