The stay was perfect. The house was amazing. Steve the host was easy to work with answered all our questions and stayed in communication with us. We had all we needed for a great stay. The house was spotless and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again
My daughter got married at Lauxmont Farms and we booked Lovely property to stay the night before for the bridal party and the night of the weddimg for the bride and groom. the w onderful details really made this place unique. I was very intrigued at every turn. It was very clean and accommodating . The host was very gracious and answered all my questions without hesitation. Highly recommended
This was an amazing house. The house has a perfect mix of historical elements with modern conveniences. Check in and out was easy and the property manager was fantastic. The area is quiet with easy access to hiking/ biking and a quant downtown. Would definitely go back!
The house was very clean and well maintained, and Steve was very quick to answer any question we had. He prepared a very detailed booklet explaining everything in the house which also had helpful details about the surrounding area.
This place was absolutely amazing! Met the property owner (Steve) who gave us a quick rundown of our stay. He was very caring and wanted our stay to be great! Wow is the building beautiful and grounds kept very well! It felt like we were aristocrats for a few days. The building is very old but modernized while keeping the character of the house. Steve had the piano tuned for me and I was able to learn a little bit of Chopin no.9 during my stay. During the stay we ended up using the amazing kitchen and having a nice dinner there as well! If I’m in the area again, this’ll be the first place I look.
I would recommend this house. It has so much character. Steve was very nice and accommodating. The house was very clean and the kitchen was updated. The only issue was the bathroom rooms set up. But it was still well worth the stay.
We travel to this area every fall to get together with family in the area. This house was wonderful. If you are interested in history, you would be especially excited. The kitchen is very modern and has everything you could possibly want. The rest of the house is restored historic and just beautiful. The beds are very comfortable. You have plenty of room where groups can meet, but also places where you can be alone without others bothering you. The bathrooms are modern except for one with a claw foot tub, but the rest of the room is updated too. This is just a wonderful place to stay.
My adult children and Husband stayed here for a celebration of my 50th birthday and a wedding in the area. We had fun seeing all the antiques the house holds as well as all the beautiful furniture and nice rooms. The bathrooms are spacious but require a close nit group as the master bathroom is a walkthrough with two doors. The TV room and kitchen are comfy. The beds are too! The living and dining rooms are elegant and the grounds pretty! Our host was great and his scones are really good! Excellent recommendations including using Railroad House Inn for my birthday dinner for our 15 guests! Highly recommend- if you don’t mind steps- bathrooms on second floor.
This property was restored beautifully by the owner, but with all the modern conveniences one could want (air conditioning, stainless steel appliances, waterfall shower to name a few). We stayed for the proximity to a wedding, and enjoyed a relaxing vacation for the weekend. The description of the property is completely accurate, and as an added bonus, bird feeders in front of the kitchen windows provide private views of many birds each morning while you enjoy freshly ground coffee! The owner is outstanding with communication, and leaves detailed information upon check in. As other reviewers have said, so long as you don't have mobility limitations (due to both bathrooms being on the 2nd floor), this property is just amazing.
We loved this house. Amazing antiques are everywhere. Kitchen and one of the bathroom is renovated, this is perfect detail for us, but still we feel like 1800s. There is a secret passage way in kitchen to upstairs.it was exciting and backyard is wonderful. Perfect house for family pictures.
Also it’s closed to Lapp valley farm and Dutch wonderland. I want to share that, first time my kids got very big toys with playing games. Picking duckies(even 3 years old can do that:), playing basketball. This machines are not cheating, it was surprising. My kids had so much fun at this trip.
Steve was a great host, made our check in so easy. Claw foot tub and Spa shower were wonderful, and the bonus of farm fresh eggs and apples upon our arrival were appreciated. We highy recommend!
We had a terrific time staying at this beautiful home with friends. The spacious kitchen had the tools we needed for cooking dinner and preparing breakfast each day. As a convenient location for accessing the river Trail, exploring downtown Lancaster and nearby small towns. The host was very accommodating and helpful.
Loved the historic property, great location, used as a hub to Lancaster central market, Hershey park, and shopping. Steve was great to work with. Will definitely come back!
House was beautiful. Only two minorissues. The second bath is awkwardly located and both are upstairs. As bikers we had to deal with the heavy traffic on Rt 441 in this deer trail obtain access to the bike trail.
We had a very nice stay. The host, Steve, was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated Steve meeting us at check in and explaining details. The historic house, furnishing, and decor are beautiful. We were especially impressed by the fresh peaches, cherries and strawberry jam that was waiting for us in the well-stocked gourmet kitchen! The beds are super comfortable. We had plenty of towels, toiletries, and toilet paper. We will definitely consider staying at the house again. Thank you!
We had the best time! Steve is a great host. He greeted us and answered all of our questions. The house was amazing; I would like to go back in the Fall and just stay at the house and enjoy reading and relaxing. The grounds around the house were great for the kids to run around and we all enjoyed coffee on the porch every morning. The bike trail is right across the road too, and plenty to do in the area.
This house is just as listed! We had a lovely stay with 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 11,7,7). The house is an impressive mix of modern amenities and staying true to its time. I was initially worried about young kids staying with the older items but they loved it and felt like they were staying in a mansion. We visited many sights in Hershey and Lancaster. Short drive to both. Thanks for a memorable stay!
The Ironmaster Mansion is a solid old mansion that has been thoughtfully renovated to make it comfortable while preserving the character of the home. It is spectacularly clean—pristine—and well maintained. Our stay included a lot of nice touches, such as an interesting set of cookbooks, and a delicious tray of local pastries. The musicianship in our family came out, via the grand piano and classical guitar made available to guests. It is a gorgeous house in which to play music. Communication with Steve was easy and amicable. We appreciated his meeting us at the house and giving us a thorough tour.
Stayed at the Iron Master mansion while attending a wedding in the area. I absolutely loved the home, as I am a fan of all things antique and historical. The house is absolutely stunning!! Perfect for adults without physical limitations and older teens. May not be a good fit for adults with physical limitations and young children. The home does require the frequent use of stairs as both bathrooms are on the 2nd floor and one bathroom may have to be accessed from the second set of stairs in the back of the home. Otherwise, the home was perfect for 2 families of 3 people with comfortable beds and and wonderfully large kitchen and dining areas and beautifully meticulous outdoor areas. Just loved it and hope to visit again!
Amazing location for us visiting family in the area--we were 1.5hr from a wedding in Phila, less than 30 minutes to our beloved former home, Hershey, and 25 minutes from our York County family. The home was spacious and beautifully modernized while still maintaining innumerable historic charms. I always hesitate to stay in older homes--I'm not generally a fan of victorian style and it's so hard to keep them clean. But this home is the PERFECT BALANCE of historical appeal and modern amenities and unbelievably clean for its style and age! The beds were comfortable and the very well stocked kitchen (with a real coffee grinder!) and cozy living room were wonderful spots to spend family time together. There was even a LIVE Christmas tree (not artificial!)--this tremendous effort alone demonstrated for us the genuine care put into hosting guests in this home. Minutes walk to Chickies Ridge to hike and run along the river was great. Communication from Steve was also perfect--completely accessible without being at all overbearing or intrusive. You can just tell by the care of the home that its restoration has been a labor of love for him and we are so grateful he shared this with our family! We hope to stay again! Thank you, Steve!
Steve was very responsive to our questions. His property was beautiful. For a house built in 1860 , he has taken great care to make it very accommodating.
