I'm honestly not sure how to review this hotel. Before my stay, I had some questions, and the hotel owner called me to answer them. She was wonderful. At check-in, the clerk (who might have been the owner, I don't know) was great, too. However, the room itself (#4) was only okay. The mattress on the fold-out sofa bed was terrible (even worse than most foldout beds). When we opened the door to the bedroom, the door handle literally fell out, and the DVD player that I would have sworn was on the amenities list was absent. (Luckily, the smart TV allowed us to sign into our Amazon Video account, so that wasn't a big deal.) The worst part of our trip, however, was the terrible sleep we experienced - in part due to the mattresses and squeaky bed, in part due to the thin walls which allowed me to hear our snoring neighbor saw logs for hours on end (even over top of the in-room sound maker), in part due to the drunken party arriving back at the hotel at 1:30am, and in part due to the trains going by. I don't know how much of this could be controlled, so I don't necessarily even fault the hotel owners. I would just caution anyone choosing to stay at this hotel (or any others in Lava) that you might not get the kind of sleep/vacation that you're hoping for. I had some pretty high expectations for my first post-vax vacation, and I ended up very tired and a bit disappointed.
