Renowned as a centre for water sports, a superb range of activities can be enjoyed in and around this area with wind and kite surfing, kayaking, yachting, scuba diving, boat hire, fishing and boat trips just some of the many pursuits that can all be arranged locally.

It is only 1.5km downhill to a selection of tavernas, the starting point for the excellent range of amenities that can be found all along the coastal road as it curves around the bay to Vasiliki old town and harbour. Just 200m further brings you to the sandy beach of Ponti at the western edge of the bay from where you can stroll around the entire shoreline on a mixture of sand, shingle and small pebbles all the way to the harbour itself (approx 1.5km further).
Fourth largest of the pretty Ionian islands, Lefkada remains a largely natural and unspoilt destination, home to several of the most celebrated beaches of the Mediterranean, many of which are regularly awarded the coveted Blue Flag in recognition of their quality. Two of these, Porto Katsiki (12.4km) and Egremni (13.2km) on the rugged west coast, are picture-postcard pretty and widely considered to be amongst the top ten beaches in all of Europe.
