Good breakfast, courteous staff, clean room. Not a fan of bathtubs and this property needs some bathroom update. Door lock did not work properly and we informed the front desk at c/o.

Decent, if a bit tired hotel
Hotels is a little tired and needs some time and effort. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good, with excellent service. Breakfast was very disappointing. The two automatic coffee machines were not working properly and the orange juice was so diluted, it was like drinking slightly flavoured water. Why they have to let themselves down like that, I assume to save a few cents, is beyond me, as it spoilt an otherwise nice stay.

Great value for money
Extra friendly and helpful staff. Beach front location, with great view. Well equipped bar area with books, table games and snooker. Eco friendly standards. Delicious breakfast buffet. Only improvements required are the jacuzzi cleanliness (too much hair), and the flies on breakfast area. Great overall, definitely recommend a stay here.

Adorei a janela Velux em frente ao mar, mas é pena que para chegar até lá tenhamos que nos esgueirar entre o tecto e a cama. O quarto é na generalidade pequeno e com tecto muito baixo, mas agradável e com pormenores de conforto

The location just on the ocean was fabulous! The restaurant . The staff team was quite nice and efficient - my congratulations to the hotel. The tiny bathroom and the feable water stream were the"minus" characteristics to point out.

Lovely!
The hotel was lovely. It was great how environmentally conscious they were with recycling bins in the bathroom. The restaurant doesn't allow bookings after 8:30 pm because they can't guarantee the tables, which rather defeats the purpose of the system, but otherwise, the stay was brilliant. The jacuzzi bath in the room was a treat!

Family friendly hotel at the beach
We had an excellent time in the hotel with family. Right at the beach and away from the hussle bussle. Easy access within 20 minutes to decent shopping mall. It could have done better by providing tea / coffee making machine in the room. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. The hotel is kids friendly with a small spa and swimming pool.

People in hotel were nice, view from room just great. Hotel is not new but offer good value as *** hotel. We were by car and during stay went to Lisbon and Sintra so did not spend to much time around hotel. When water is cold then there is not much to do. But for us it was great.

Secluded hotel right on the beach
Going to sleep and waking up listening to the ocean was wonderful and relaxing. I really liked the design of this hotel, lobby, restaurant and rooms...bright, modern...and green awarded, one of the few that recycles in the room, sensor lights in the hallways. Our room faced the ocean and you could lay in bed and watch the sun go down. The staff at the front desk and restaurant were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and bright. Porto Nova is quite secluded, but the perfect place to relax and unwind...Portugal is so quaint. I had lunch in the restaurant...mussels, Portuguese wine, accompanied with fresh bread, cheese and pâtés. The view was stunning! One of the best I've seen. I would highly recommend this place as a quiet getaway and would return in a heartbeat.

Great Hotel Peaceful & View
We had a great stay at Hotel Promar! It was still early season so it was really quiet and peaceful, secluded a little bit but in a good way! You have what you need at the hotel, a restaurant and a good breakfast, a beautiful beach right at your doorstep and stunning views from the room. Friendly staff, clean and tastefully decorated rooms and comfortable beds. We loved being so close to the beach! Also a bonus, there's a parking lot nearby so if you're adventuring through Portugal by car (as we did), there's easy access free parking, which isn't always easy to come by in Europe. It is advisable to have a car if you're staying at the Hotel, it's nice to have the option to drive into Santa Cruz for dinner variety and shops. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return sometime!

Amazing, no better to describe it
We had such a fantastic stay at this hotel! The room was amazing, extremely clean, jetted bath in the room, stunning sunset views over the beach and relaxing purring ocean sound to fall asleep and wake up. They offer massages at a great price (35-50€). The gym however is a gimmick, about the size of a small double bed room. The room service was nice, polite and absolutely affordable (5€ a burger, 10€ a bottle of bubbly, 4€ cocktails). The beach itself is not that nice, as quite small and the sand is thick (a little painful to walk on). However, the hotel hires out bikes for €5 per week, so we took a ride to Santa Cruz where they have an amazing beach and lovely restaurants! There is a bar/pizzeria next door which has a pool table upstairs, so we spend our evening having nice food and playing pool after our beach trip! Breakfast buffet is good, all the essentials and lots of fresh fruit! Overall we cannot recommend this hotel better! I have spread the word among friends and family and everyone now wants to take a trip down to Porto Novo! :) The Hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere, so a car is recommended, however as the hotel itself is so great we did not mind it! Thank you Promar Staff for making us have a wonderful time!

Simple but clean with great location
We had a family room, two mamas with our 3 kids. We couldn't have asked for a better scenario. Directly on the beach, you could see even those by the water from the room. There was a play area with slides and a kids house directly on the beach which kept the kids busy all day. There was also a playroom next to the lobby where we could borrow books and toys from. The staff were extremely accommodating. I needed to rotate my bed to have it against two walls so my kid wouldn't fall out. They had to get two staff members to lift it up and they did it right away. We ate the vegetarian meals and they were fabulous. The breakfast was simple but I brought my own superfoods and blender so we didn't partake in it. Overall, it was very convenient for a mama and kids getaway that felt very safe and relaxing. We walked along the river to the closest town and everyone just loves kids in this country. I have taken my 2 yr old to almost 15 countries so we stay in a lot of hotels from 3-5 stars and this place isn't 5 star but it was more convenient than most of the 5 stars.

Great experience!
We booked a last minute stay at the Hotel Promar, and although it was a little hard to find, once we got there we were taken aback by the views and the serenity of the hotel. The service was excellent and the two restaurants had great food. The kids area was great - toys, games, bikes, scooters - the hotel definitely works to ensure that there is something for everyone. Overall, a hidden gem!

l'océan s'invite dans la chambre, génial
Prévu au départ pour 2 nuits nous avons finalement prolongé notre séjour pour ... 8 nuits ! Calme absolu de la localisation, vous voyez l'océan et les couchers de soleil, le bruit des vagues nous berçait la nuit. Très bonne cuisine, petit déjeuner royal et personnel discret mais très efficace !

++ Quarto espaçoso e com cama muito confortável. A vista era magnífica. ++ Empregados muito simpáticos e hotel limpo. ++piscina interior e área de spa com a temperatura ideal. A água da piscina interior estava espetacular ++ jaccuzi interior e exterior, preferência pelo o que estava no exterior encontrava-se mais limpo. ++ pequeno almoço bastante completo, com vista espetacular e com um espaçamento horário bastante razoável (3h) ++ restaurante Promar comida muito boa, um pouco caro, podem fazer algumas refeições no café/restaurante da praia ao lado -santa rita ++ praia em frente ao hotel -- volta e meia ficava um cheiro desagradável no quarto, proveniente da cabine do chuveiro -- água da piscina exterior gelada, diria pior que o mar. -- perto do hotel existe muito pouco comércio, cerca de 3/4 restaurantes e nada mais. No entanto, a 10min. de carro chega-se a Santa Cruz onde encontram muito mais comércio e movimento.

O quarto é bastante confortável, a vista sobre o mar fantástica (pena que ficamos num quarto que o restaurante cortava a vista). Havia um cheiro no duche a esgoto, e a janela do quarto não fechava totalmente. Tentei comer algo no bar da piscina mas não havia ninguém a servir, só copos acomunados em cima do balcão. O pequeno-almoço era bom e o pessoal da receção simpático.
