This apartment is in a quiet location situated between Belem and downtown Lisbon. Great location if you're willing to walk a little bit to get to the action.
I would have loved my stay if it wasn't for some major downfalls. Some very easy fixes could have made this a great stay, but NOPE.
1) When I first arrived to the apartment, the entire mechanism holding the deadbolt in place fell off. Instead of being built into the frame, it was simply nailed to the wall inside the apartment. Any small push of the door could dislodge it. SUPER unsafe - and completely unacceptable. You can also see a visible gap between the door and the door frame, allowing you to look into the apartment. While Houst did provide me with a partial refund for my stay, I was told that this wasn't going to be able to be fixed during my 5-night stay. The lack of regard for the safety of the tenants and the security of my valuables was completely unfathomable. DO NOT stay in this apartment unless you have assurances that this has been fixed.
2) While the amenities in the listing included shampoo and soap, I was only left with 30ml of shampoo for 5 nights. Seriously???
3) The listing also included a washing machine, which was a big feature for me, because it allowed me to pack light. However, I was only left with 1 detergent tablet for the 5 nights I was there, so was only able to do one load of laundry.
4) Compounding the laundry issue was that I was left with 2 towels. . . not bad under normal circumstances, but brutal when you consider that the shower panel does not extend form wall to wall, leaving a gap in the shower which results in water splashing out of the shower and leaking out onto the floor. I had to use one of my towels to absorb the water on the floor and prevent it from spreading all over. This was a complaint previous reviewers have had on numerous occasions, so the fact that this simple fix hasn't been made is unconscionable. I was now left with one useable towel for 5 nights, and only one laundry detergent tablet. Not great.
5) I was not left with nearly enough toilet paper to last me 5 nights and ended up having to buy my own.
6) The walls are paper thin, which I understand is common in Lisbon, but still something to consider. If you enjoy listening to other tenants have sex at 2 a.m., this is the place for you! For this reason and for the glaring security issues, I would not recommend bringing children . . just in case.
