Swim, surf, bodyboard or just work on your tan while enjoying the scenery at this pretty coastal spot on the Atlantic.

Visit Cape Town's Llandudno Beach for its dazzling white sands, surfing opportunities and picturesque mountain backdrop. This beautiful Blue Flag beach is surrounded by large granite boulders and extends for approximately 650 feet (198 meters).

If you are feeling brave, go for a swim. Being on the Atlantic side of the city, the sea is usually cold in the summer and the currents are strong. Consequently, many visitors just dip their toes in the water. However, the sea here does attract many surfers and bodyboarding enthusiasts. If you want to enjoy sporting activities on dry land, take part in volleyball, cricket and beach soccer. Or, simply relax on the fine, white sands and enjoy the views out to sea. Go to the main access road above the beach for additional excellent views.

If you plan to stay on the beach for a few hours, bring refreshments with you because the area doesn’t have any cafés. However, you may find vendors selling snacks and drinks.

For those who prefer to sunbathe in the nude, walk to secluded Sandy Bay. This is Cape Town's official nudist beach. Reach it via a 20-minute stroll south from the parking lot at Llandudno. Stand on the large boulders for superb views of the ocean and the mountains that flank the beach.

Llandudno Beach is about about 11 miles (18 kilometers) from the center of Cape Town. Car parking spaces are limited consider getting a taxi from the city.

Shark risk at Llandudno Beach is low so it has no shark spotters. Dogs are allowed on the beach during the off-peak season between April and November and at restricted times in peak season, from December to March.
