Anniversary Getaway

My wife and I traveled to Luray, VA for a short, romantic, anniversary getaway. The Stone House was the perfect spot for us! The historic structure was very well maintained and renovated. It was quiet, peaceful and in a gorgeous location! Four thumbs way up!!

Country Living

The location is great. It’s out in the country, next to the river with views of the mountains, yet close to Luray and Skyline Drive. We enjoyed walking and running on the path by the river each morning and evening. The house itself had all the modern amenities we could need.

Restored by the River’s Edge

This was our end of summer getaway to charge us before our daughter leaves for college. Property was practically magical. Everyone is so friendly, the home couldn’t have been more ideal and the location by the river gave us everything we needed. Thank you for giving us a place to make wonderful memories!

We loved everything about the property. It's a lovely oasis right outside of busy Northern Virginia. The house was impeccably clean and had all the amenities. Really well-maintained by the owners. Kudos also to the reservation team for promptly responding to my queries; much appreciated! The view on the sprawling property was amazing. Also loved seeing the deer casually walk by the house and just graze on the grass. I'm pretty sure I saw 10 deer last night, which was so awesome. They added to the peaceful vibe of the property. Definitely looking forward to going back.

Lovely Weekend

This is a lovely property to spend a quiet weekend. It was my birthday and my husband and I wanted to get away. There was plenty of room for our dog to run around outside. We like the historic nature of the building. All of the appliances worked as expected. We enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings and did not have to touch the climate control at all while there. The bed and pillows were extraordinarily comfortable (we plan to follow up on the brand so we can replace our own mattress!). The shower was a little complicated and I couldn't really get the radio to work but it was fun as an unusual amenity. We liked having dual sinks and there were plenty of towels. We spent a bit of time in the chairs on the front porch area. While we did not take advantage of any of the DVDs or games there, we appreciated having those as an option. We will look forward to going back again in warmer weather.

Quiet Stone Cottage in Shenandoah

Our first time to Shenandoah, we wanted to really focus on getting to the trails and seeing the views the space had to offer. Looking at several places, this one stood out for its uniqueness and location - and we were extremely happy with it! The space has a wonderful area around it, open and looking up to the mountains to the west with hills all around. The ride in is just off a road with a chicken farm, but this didn't interfere or hinder the experience one bit. Driving into Lurray is incredibly easy with downtown access and visiting the caverns no more than 5-10 min driving on curvy back roads. Access to Skyline Drive is also a short distance east, 15-20 min down the highway. The cottage's accommodations were more than expected and truly were intended to make you feel the comforts of a home. The rooms were laid out well and the furnishings were perfect for the space. The kitchen was large and able to support full meal prep (more on why we know this below!). There were great little touches too and while the night gets dark (outstanding for astrophotography), it never felt isolated or claustrophobic. We also had a really awesome storm come through the first night - the house (entirely stone) didn't give the slightest feeling of wind and the roof gave way to the greatest rain sounds you can imagine. Wildlife also made it's way through the yard each day, with our first 10 minutes having an eagle land in the back trees as we were unpacking. Overall the stay was fantastic and

Decent getaway

This is a great place to stay if you just want to get away from it all. We had barely any cell phone service, which in one sense was nice. In other ways, it was hard to figure out where we needed to go until we got out a mile or so down the road. The property was nice and big and our dog loved roaming around it. We loved having access to the Shenandoah River with just a short walk. The river was low so fishing was not very successful, but you can walk out into the river. There's also an old low bridge nearby that you can walk out onto and fish. The house is about 15 minutes from downtown Luray and 30 minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park. It was neat staying in a renovated historic house full of all kinds of antiques like the candle making rack and mold. The only downside was driving up to the house you could smell the chicken farm next to us. You could also smell it about half the time while outside the house, depending on how the wind was blowing.

Perfect Getaway

The Stone House and grounds were perfect for our weekend getaway. The home was exceptionally clean and the grounds well maintained for our visit. Carlos and Zane were also great, reaching out ahead of our stay. Access to the River, wildlife in the mornings and evenings was fantastic. Thanks again and we look forward to returning down the road.

Relaxing Stay in an Historic Charmer

We planned a weekend exploring the Shenandoah river and Luray area, and ended up snuggled in this well-appointed stone house as the temperatures dropped, snow fell, and 45 MPH winds blew. Everything needed to prepare meals, stay warm, and entertain ourselves was within the very secure walls of this house. The view was breathtaking with the unexpected winter weather. We'd love to go back and revisit our actual plans sometime soon and would definitely stay here again.

Anniversary weekend stay in Shenandoah valley

We had the most incredibly relaxing time. The stone cottage was so luxurious compared to a cabin and far more private. We enjoyed it so much and will definitely go back for some country space, beautiful scenery and urban detox. This is the perfect retreat

Great stay!

The property is perfect for a getaway with friends! Very clean and the interior is so fun and nice. Updated kitchen and bathrooms. The wood and stone around the house is gorgeous- we took many photos. A walk to the river was nice, and it was very private. We had a great stay - thanks so much!

The house is lovely. My only complaint is the water. It has a strong metallic taste and smell.

Beautiful area with picturesque scenery. Close to Shenandoah river and local attractions (Shenandoah outfitters, Luray caverns, Luray Zoo, local ranches). Grocery stores are about 10 minutes drive. The property is beautiful and was clean. The water was my only disappointment. The smell and the taste. Bring with you water for drinking and cooking.

Fantastic place, pictures do not do it justice.

Very peaceful setting nestled between the river and a Poultry farm. Plenty of room to roam on the property, you will not have that neighbors on your doorstep feal here like most waterfront properties. The Bedrooms were huge, each with plenty of closet space and decorative fireplaces. Beds were too soft for our taste, but that's a personal preference. The bathroom was very large and had a steam shower. It was fun to play with once, but then it was just a nice shower. The Kitchen was probably better than ours at home. Had pretty much everything you could need. We were very pleased but only cooked once. The rest of the house was very well decorated and very comfortable. I've stayed in other older places and they usually have that drafty feel. I did not notice it here. But it didnt get that cold. The central air went out just before we arrived. It was a cool weekend so we didnt care, but I mention it mainly due to the extrodinary effort that was made to contact us and give us other options if it was going to be a problem. It was well handled, I would gladly stay here again.
