The Sand Castle truly exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed so many aspects of our experience; I will highlight a few we thought were particularly outstanding. Communication with the property manager was excellent. When we had a question or issue arise, we received a prompt response and resolution. It was clear throughout our stay they wanted us to enjoy our experience and we felt very welcome from the time we arrived. The home is spacious, well-stocked, and the attention to detail made it feel like our own home rather than a rental property. There is ample room to spread out and enjoy the home’s views and amenities. For example, some of us would work in the comfortable library room (with the fireplace on) while others were relaxing in the great room or cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. We packed a great deal of cookware and bakeware given that we were planning to cook Thanksgiving dinner, but were pleasantly surprised to find the kitchen stocked with everything we needed, and more (e.g., a roasting pan, large serving bowls and platters, plenty of pots, pans, and utensils; an apron; high-quality, sharpened knives; an awesome electric wine bottle opener). Other rooms in the house were equally-well stocked (e.g., bath towels; laundry essentials; cleaning supplies) and we quickly realized we overpacked—We only really needed to bring our clothing and food! In terms of some of the details that made the home feel special, there is a bench near the entryway stocked with several cozy blankets. The bedroom with (two!) bunkbeds was a huge hit with our two children. They also loved the decorations in that room, including the large stuffed animals. The master bath was also popular; we loved the European style towel warmer, and the kids loved that bubble bath was provided. We spent A LOT of time enjoying the outdoors; we walked up and down the beach and watched the kids build castles and play in the sand. We also brought our canoe and paddled out to the sandbar that would appear each day to look for shells. On our last day, we spotted some groups of dolphins swimming by and then paddled out for a closer view—It was amazing! Also, the sunsets were picture perfect. We didn’t venture out much due to the pandemic (and we didn’t feel like we needed to at all). Some of us visited a local winery one day and sat outside to enjoy some wine (and stock up for our stay). Overall, we made some wonderful memories and hope to return to the Sand Castle in 2021!
