Nice location near the river so you can hear the water and feels kind of relaxing but they need to handle better the humidity. Towels and bed sheets smells humid. The staff is really nice, property looks little bit older but have great potential.

Stayed at Hotel Retama Machupicchu during my visit to Machu Picchu. The staff was friendly and super helpful, and the location made it convenient for getting around Aguas Calientes and heading to Machu Picchu early in the morning. The room was clean overall, and I appreciated having a quiet place to rest after a long travel day. There were a few downsides. The hotel is also up a hill and does not have an elevator, which could be difficult with luggage. Breakfast was simple but enough to get started for the day. They made me an omelet to order that was delicious. Overall, it’s a decent option if you want an affordable stay close to Machu Picchu and are mainly looking for a place to sleep and recharge before the trip.

The hotel is located 5 minutes off the main busy street, besides a river so you get that “retreat” vibe. Hotel owner was very friendly and always check up on you to make your stay comfortable. Clean room and nice lounge area to relax with coffee and tea overlooking the river and mountain is really nothing I can get better with. Because it’s off the Main Street so it is quiet and not getting the constant traffic when it’s peak time for tourist buses to get people to the train station. And it’s safe to walk around the town! :) It is easily accessible by walking to anywhere within Ollantaytambo town! A few hiking trails nearby as well to explore the town! I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!

The rooms were clean and spacious. Small mishap on first day when I thought I had no hot water but blue knob was actually hot and red knob was cold. Fresh breakfast and fruit. Please note that the laid out breakfast is not all- the little counter and window right there, you can ask for scrambled eggs. Also no elevator, so if you’re on the second or third floor, have to climb steps and hotel is also on the top of a hill for those with ambulatory problems. Otherwise excellent and staff very helpful. Had someone come to the train to pick me up and someone else brought me back to the train
