Traveling to Madeira with the best advice from locals
We are happy to stay by the Aurelio and Sietske, who are really nice couple. They treated us as family, we enjoyed their wonderful house with the perfect view and location. Sietske and Aurelio gave us many valuable tips regarding traveling on Madeira. Thank you for hospitality!!!

Spacious, comfortable home from home
As others have said, this house is spacious, clean and comfortable for a long stay. For holiday-makers not wishing to risk driving on Madeira's roads, the house is very convenient for central Funchal. It is an easy, if steep, walk down to the Mercado and the excellent city bus service offers a choice of 3 buses back up the hill. After a day's sight-seeing the back garden is a peaceful haven for enjoying the lovely view.

Vaste maison avec vue assez proche du centre
La maison est très grande : nous y étions 5 adultes sans se gêner. La cuisine est parfaitement équipée. La terrasse est vaste aussi et très appréciable. Les fenêtres sont toutes équipées de moustiquaires. Le seul bémol serait le manque d'isolation phonique des fenêtres par rapport aux aboiements des chiens de la ville pendant la nuit.

Merci Chantal pour ce gentil commentaire ! Effectivement, il y a des moustiquaires à toutes les fenêtres de la maison, un aménagement assez rare à Funchal, mais que nous avons jugé nécessaire pour le confort de nos hôtes. Quant aux aboiements des chiens, c'est pour cette raison que nous avons équipé toutes les chambres de ventilateurs, au cas où nos hôtes voudraient fermer les fenêtres une nuit où les chiens sont plus agités. Heureusement, nos voisins immédiats n'ont pas de chiens, mais étant donné que la ville est comme un amphithéâtre, on les entendra d'une manière ou d'une autre. Malheureusement, au Portugal nous n'avons pas les mêmes lois qu'en France fiscalisant les propriétaires qui n'éduquent pas leurs chiens...

Wunderbare Aussicht
Es ist ein älteres Haus mit einem besonderen Charme, für uns zu zweit großzügig. Alles was man benötigt gibt es dort. Die Vermieter sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit mit Vorschlägen und Ideen. Der Blick vom Balkon ist atemberaubend schön. Die Berglage hat natürlich auch seine Tücken - es ist seehr steil herunter in die Stadt und beschwerlich hoch. Wenn man das Bussystem durchschaut hat, geht es. Von der Stadt hoch fahren heißt, man muss die Zeit wählen, von wo der Bus los fährt - also von der City, in die Stadt runter fahren die Zeiten von S. Luzia wählen -also nicht das Ziel wählen wie gewohnt, sondern den Abfahrtsort, dann kommen die Busse ziemlich zuverlässig.

Lovely home away from home
Great location. We walked into town although the hills were a bit of a challenge. Aurelio and Sietske had everything that we could need during our 4 night stay. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen. I also liked sitting in the back with a glass of wine chilling after long days of sightseeing. They are both gracious hosts, taking time to show us everything in the house as well as giving us sightseeing tips. I have already mentioned this property to my sister (and her family of 5)! Many thanks Aurelio and Sietske for a wonderful stay in your second home !

Super Haus, super Vermieter
Wir genossen die Zeit im Haus von Aurelio und Sietske sehr. Wir waren mit allem sehr zufrieden!! Viel Platz, sehr sauber, sehr gute Lage und vor allem sehr gute Vermieter. Aurelio und Sietske sind wirklich sehr nett und haben immer hilfreiche Tipps für den Aufenthalt. Absolute Empfehlung!!

Great place
Another great stay in this property,bus stop close to house,so easy to get into and back from Funchal.Aurelio and Sietske are a lovely couple and they could not be more helpful if you need help decicing which places you want to visit.The house has everything required for cooking drinking etc.Proper home from home,I'll be back, Jim, Littleborough

'A house with a view"
The first thing to say, when we arrived was the warm welcome we received from Aurelio and Sietske. We had the full rundown on how everything worked. Seiske's welcome folder was brimming with useful information and we often referred to it. The house was clean and very spacious, especially for the 2 of us. We decided on the bedroom with a view of Funchal Harbour, because it had a balcony. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We agree with other guests comments regarding the dogs. As we are ourselves owners of a holiday home in Spain, we would recommend the upgrading of the TV to meet today's entertainment criteria, because you have excellent internet service. We had a similar situation in Spain and we upgraded the TV and now enjoy positive feedback from guests. We would suggest bringing binoculars to view the cruise ships coming into port on a regular basis and the many beautiful views across the island. We rented a car for 3 weeks of our holiday this allowed us to see the beauty of the island. Walking down to Funchal took 20mins.The number 26 bus was ideal for the return trip, also Number 19 Bus is only a 5 minute walk to the top of the road. We also recommend the bar just down the road from the house, and their 'picador' dish very reasonably priced and friendly. Our 5 week stay was very relaxing.

Prachtige locatie nabij oude centrum, ruime woning en vriendelijke verhuurders
Met heel veel genoegen hebben wij intens mogen genieten van deze prachtige ruime schone woning welke in de nabijheid van het oude centrum was gesitueerd tussen de lokale bevolking ver van de toeristenwijken. Een sprookjesachtig uitzicht vanuit de tuin over de stad en haven, waar bijna elke twee dagen nieuwe cruiseboten aanmeerden, met vanzelfsprekend de achterliggende oceaan. Het huis is praktisch en doelmatig ingericht voor een korte of lange vakantie op Madeira waarbij de verhuurders uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam zijn om je verblijf te optimaliseren. Als de omschrijving en foto's van deze aangeboden woning je aanspreekt dan zal je absoluut niet teleurgesteld worden ! Wij willen in ieder geval Sietzke en Aurelio ook hier in de recensie van Harte bedanken voor hun gastvrijheid, verzorging en persoonlijke aandacht.

Super maison pour visiter Funchal et ses environs
Maison spacieuse et bien équipée dans un quartier calme. Nous avons apprécié le jardin et la belle vue sur le port de Funchal. Proche de la vieille ville qui est accessible à pieds (le problème c'est pour remonter, les rues étant très pentues , on a vite chaud ! ) et proche de la voie rapide, donc maison bien située.

Highly recommend!
We spent a wonderful vacation in this home! Every day we felt at home. We already want to return there! Cozy, spacious, well-equipped house is placed on calm residential area. There is a parking place and unlimited wi-fi also. We had an amazing view of the old city, the port, the ocean from two bedrooms. The living room and the third bedroom have a nice view of the mountains and the cable car. The owners of the house are a wonderful and very friendly family couple, who helped us with useful tips. We are very pleased to meet them and hope to meet again on our next vacation in Madeira!

Confort et emplacement de la maison excellents
Tout d'abord, un grand merci à Sietske pour nos échanges par mail avant notre arrivée à Madère. Nous avons séjourné, en couple, dans cette maison, deux semaines à la mi-mai 2017. Je confirme les commentaires et appréciations des prédécesseurs. La maison est très confortable et le quartier est calme. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié de manger dehors les matins et les soirs, avec la vue sur Funchal. Les midis nous étions à l'extérieur. L'emplacement pour stationner la voiture de location dans le jardin est un point important. Depuis la maison, l’accès à la voie rapide est simple, facile et rapide, il n'y a pas de perte de temps pour traverser Funchal, à l'arrivée comme au départ. Effectivement, la descente pour aller en ville et la montée pour rentrer sont assez pentue mais nous avons toujours fait ces déplacements (une dizaine de fois) à pied. Le confort et l'emplacement de la maison ont contribué à cet excellent séjour de découverte de Madère.

The view says it all
The view from the patio is just magical.The town of Funchal is so laid back you just get carried away with it all,so many great restaunts,easy and extremely varied shopping great trips out,never stuck for something to do. Sietske's property is amazing,so much room,great sunbathing,all the equipment you could wish for if you decide to eat in,and great information from the owner.One thing is sure we will be back next year just as soon as we can book flights.See you then Sietske. Lovely house in great area.
The house is spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. An easy walk down to the Old Town and shopping districts - much harder walk back uphill but one bus brings you to the door and 3 more drop you just around the corner for a short downhill stroll back! Some dog noise overnight but it certainly did not stop me sleeping better than I have in years, and evenings on the balcony looking over the harbour with a glass of something were thoroughly enjoyed. Sietske is exemplary in her communications and the information provided at the house was comprehensive. In Sietske's absence we were met at the house by her friend Pauline who was also very welcoming and helpful. We would be very glad to stay here againg when we next get over to Madeira.

Très agréable location
Nous avons passé un très bon séjour à Madère dans cette agréable maison située dans un quartier calme de Funchal, loin du flux touristique. La maison est bien équipée. Depuis les chambres du 1er étage, il y a une belle vue sur la baie de Funchal où l’on peut voir les bateaux de croisière accoster. Pour accéder à la rue où se trouve la location, il faut monter une côte ; si vous n’avez pas de voiture, pas de problème, le bus n° 26 vous dépose directement en face de la maison. Très pratique. Si vous avez besoin de faire quelques courses, le centre commercial Anadia Shopping et le Mercado dos Lavradores se trouvent à 10 mn à pied de la location. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la gentillesse d’Aurelio et Sietske, les propriétaires. Ils nous ont offert une boisson de bienvenue dans le jardin de la location. Ca été un moment très convivial. Ils nous ont donné plein de renseignements pour organiser notre séjour sur place. Merci à tous les deux. Location à recommander.

+ Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Vermieter (mit Rat und Tat) + Lage des Hauses (15 min. zu Fuß vom Zentrum/Hafen entfernt, aber dennoch ruhig gelegen) + Großartiger Ausblick von der Terrasse auf Funchal und den Hafen + Schlafzimmer auf Straßenseite mit grandiosem Ausblick hoch auf die Berge + Großes Haus (3 Schlafzimmer, 3 Bäder) + Schnelles W-LAN + TV-Empfang (mit einigen deutsche Sendern) + Parkplatz + Bushaltestelle fast direkt vor der Haustür + Fliegengitter an allen Fenstern + Ferienhaus bietet viel Maderiensischen Charme + Günstiger Preis - WLAN funktionierte nicht in jedem Zimmer einwandfrei - Türen im oberen Stock relativ laut (beim Schließen und Öffnen) Fazit: Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist hier ÜBERRAGEND! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Très belle propriété avec une vue unique......
Calme, confort quoid vouloir de plus a quelques pas du centre ville......Cette vue magnifique permet dès le petit déjeuner de profiter pleinement de notre séjour. La gentillesse et la disponibilité de nos hotes permet sans soucis de recommabnder à toutes personnes aimant, le calme, une belle vue à quelques pas du centre ville. Bon séjour à tous.....

Agréable location pour découvrir Madère
Sietske et Aurélio sont des hôtes sympathiques et attentionnés pour rendre votre séjour dans l'île le plus agréable possible. Le logement dispose de tout ce qu'il faut et est situé dans un quartier calme, mais proche du centre de Funchal et de ses animations. Attention, de bonnes chaussures et de bonnes jambes sont indispensables pour visite Madère et sa capitale tout en dénivelé.

Très bon accueil et bonne location
Nous avons séjourné dans cette location fin avril 2015. Nous avons été très bien accueillis par nos hôtes qui parlent très bien le français et l'anglais. La location est très bien placée avec une superbe vue sur Funchal et le port. Il s'agit d'une location simple (on n'est pas dans un 5*) mais avec tout ce qu'il faut pour passer un bon séjour. Tout est disponible pour faire la cuisine. Jolie terrasse où l'on peut prendre le soleil + barbecue. Un des points positifs de cette location est qu'il y a tout à disposition dès l'arrivée...wifi gratuit, "kit" de démarrage pour la cuisine (huile d'olive, sel, poivre, vinaigre...) pas besoin de se précipiter au supermarché dès l'arrivée. Nous avions une voiture de location que l'on peut garer dans le jardin de manière sécurisée, ce qui est précieux dans la zone. Pour aller dans le centre de Funchal, si vous ne voulez pas prendre les transports en commun, nous recommandons de prendre la voiture et de se garer au niveau du parking de l'Amiraute à côté du marché couvert... c'est 1,2 €/heure et au maximum 5,8 € pour la journée... sinon bonjour les mollets pour remonter à la location !!! Bref vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés !!

Super Ausblick, super Garten, fussläufig zur Innenstadt
Schöne Lage des Hauses auf dem Plateau unter der Seilbahn mit wundervollem Garten auf der Rückseite des Hauses. Dort finden sich allerlei Pflanzen inkl. verschiedener Büsche und Blumen, frischem Spinat und Pfefferminze. Letztere bietet sich wunderbar für einen morgendlichen Tee an. Passende Sitzmöbel bieten die Gelegenheit zu angenehmen Mahlzeiten mit tollem Blick über Funchal.
