This room had a great space with a private bathroom. Friendly staff and free snacks, coffee, water was a plus. It did not disappoint us even though it’s a “Hostal” we felt like it was a small hotel the whole time. A little confusing to find at first, it’s located in the same building as other hostels but we figured it out pretty quickly. Very safe!!! Great food options near us, walkable to almost anywhere. Definitely recommend

Mil gracias por hacer que mi estadía en Madrid fuera magnífica! Desde que abrí la puerta al hostal se respira aroma a limpio. Rosa es un encanto y el servicio es muy placentero. El local está bien céntrico y es bien seguro. Lo recomiendo!!

Fantastic location. Our room was bigger than expected, super clean and comfortable, everything we needed for a weekend stay. Free tea, coffee, water and snacks also included. Would definitely stay here again.

Pros: very clean, good water pressure in shower, common area with coffee and water, staff was pleasant and personable. Good location to walk in Sol area. Cons: even by European norms the room and bath were uncomfortably small for 2 people. Our room price was ridiculously expensive for this caliber of accomodation- over $200/night USD. Would not recommend for 2.

Horrible staffing! They are never around. And when they finally arrived, they do not solve anything.My mom had a stroke and died suddenly.As a result,I had to leave two days earlier to attend her funeral in Venezuela. I asked for a rain check or refund. They requested my email, and so far NO ANSWER. WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS PLACE AGAIN! Expedia should erase them as a choice.

Location, location, location!!! The hostal was clean and the staff was very friendly. The rooms is very small. Our room was in the opposite way from the reception and was extremely noisy. They offer water bottles free of charge, which was super nice.

A little taste of luxury, without the price tag
I spent three nights at this centrally located lodging. It is located on the third floor and is one of several apartments converted into a lodging facility with subdivided rooms. It was, by far, the best hotel I stayed during my two-week European trip. It was spotless clean and nicely arranged. The rooms are cleaned, and beds are made every day, as in a fancy hotel, and the staff is quite friendly and helpful. One unusual, but particularly useful feature are the various signages everywhere. At the entrance, there is a large map of Madrid with the main tourist sites to visit, and one wall in my room was covered with more helpful information, such as WiFi passwords (no need to carry around little paper slips with passwords).

Small place with only aboit 10 rooms. Very central location close to everything. Bed was very comfortable and I slept well. AC was good and shower heat and pressure was very good. Expect noise at night from the street and nearby establishments on rooms overlooking the street. The windows did a reasonable job limiting the noise but I would recommend using ear plugs. I would stay here again.

Will be coming back next time we come to Madrid!
Nice place to stay in a perfect location. Good value for money, especially considering you are so close to everything. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Fridge with water/milk and tea and coffee available free of cchargein the communal area.

The staff was extremely friendly and open to answer any questions about the city, tourism, and provided many recommendations. The room was clean, and comfortable, overall welcoming place. They also provided a light breakfast every morning which was a wonderful addition! The Hostal was also located in a great area for tourists, lots of food and many shops. Overall this was a great choice, we had a lovely experience.

This hotel is amazing. At a decent price it is in a perfect location to see all of Madrid's main sites on foot. It is in the old part of town with loads of fab bars and restaurants. It is incredibly clean and modern, with small but comfortable rooms and everything works! The breakfast room is a bit small and self service but has a good selection of food. I will definitely stay here again.

Property was fine. However, even though I called the property the day before arriving to let them know we would be arriving from a late flight, when we arrived, the night attendant appeared to be sleeping as we called twice from a local phone, rang the buzzer, and eventually banged repeatedly on the entrance door before a dazed and slow moving male opened the door!!! In all we had been trying to get access to the hotel for over 30 minutes!! This was communicated to the day staff the next morning who were very apologetic and assured us they would address the situation and talk to the night person. I would have expected some sort of monetary or other compensation but none was or has been shown thus far.

We apologize for what happened, for some reason the night doorbell on the third floor door did not work, but the street bell did work and you did not ring the street bell to notify your arrival. On the other hand, our phones are always operational and there is no record of an incoming call, it is possible that when dialing the phone they did not put the correct number, or the person who helped you call did nothing but a missed call instead of to call. We take the opportunity to inform that the problem with the night bell on the third floor is solved, every day we have late check-in or people who leave at dawn and our staff is always willing to help 24 hours a day, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. Great place close to Plaza Mayor and lots of little tapas restaurants. The rooms are clean, have AC, a safe, and private bathrooms if you book a private room. The check in was fast and the staff friendly. The only down side during my stay was that the elevator was not functioning which meant going up 3 flights of stairs with my luggage. Once I checked out though the gentleman on front desk duty was kind enough to carry my luggage down for me.

Comfortable rooms, excellent service, lively area
Stay was amazing! We arrived late, but were welcomed warmly and not hurried through check in. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and bright. Maria and her staff were friendly and happy to share recommendations about area restaurants and attractions. At the end of our stay, she called us a taxi to the airport. The neighborhood is very lively, with great shops, restaurants and bars (e.g. Plaza Santa Ana) within a 5 min. walk, but don't worry about the noise; in fact, when it's time to sleep, the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Would definitely recommend Royal Cruz and stay here again!

Regarding your breakfast comment, we consider that they do have many options, from milk, skimmed milk, soy milk, milk without lactose, orange juice, american coffee, coffee without caffeine powder, different infusions, instant cocoa, cereals, yogurt , toast bread that can be taken with butter and jam, honey, tomato with oil or ham, cheese and other typical Spanish sausages, fresh fruit, muffins, croissants, sponge cake, cookies, etc, however, we will consider your opinion, kind regards. Super clean, friendly staff
Super clean and compact room, convenient location, and super friendly staff. Rosa’s warm smile made me feel very welcomed. Walls are thin though. You can hear everything from everywhere. Outside street can also be loud at night.
