Simple and super friendly!

I stayed here for 2 nights straight after arriving in Mauritius, mainly as I couldn’t be bothered with long/expensive transfers to the far side of the island - but also so I could experience “real” Mauritius too (rather than just the tourist resorts). ONS is in the perfect place within Mahebourg, which is very easy to reach by bus from the airport. There’s not lots to do, but you can fill a day for sure. The motel is simple, clean, comfy, friendly and quiet (apart from the nearby mosque prayers!), with wifi and a very basic breakfast thrown into the great value price too. However, by far the best thing about my experience of the place was then using Beelal as a driver for tours for 2 days. He was friendly, very laid back, charged very reasonable rates for each day (with the itinerary completely customisable as I wished) and generally helped make the start of my trip very enjoyable. So long as you are sensible in your expectations about ONS Motel (i.e. it’s not a 5-star resort with an infinity pool… but then the price reflects that!), if you want to stay in Mahebourg and/or use this place as a base for exploring further, I’d thoroughly recommend it! Keep up the good work Beelal!!

Good Value For The Price Paid

Located right in centre of Mahebourg, within very short walking distance from shopping/market, restuarants and all the attractions. Was easy to find, although only street parking is available. Very friendly and helpful service with efficient check in/out, note the motel involves climbing stairs to the third floor or using a tiny and very slow elevator with manual doors. Clean and decent sized room. However the only amenties provided were two bath towels, 2 small bars of soap and a jug of water. No face/hand towels or shampoo, conditioner, etc. Breakfast consisted of a small fruit bowl, a large bun or piece of baguette, some jam, cheese, a glass of juice and tea/coffee, nothing more. Still based on the price paid couldn't have expected much more. Overall an enjoyable stay.

The rooms are clean and a decent size, although with glass walled bathrooms you'd better be pretty familiar with the people you're sharing with. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel in general has a nice atmosphere, and is situated well for exploring Mahebourg. The rooms could do with a bit of updating; for instance the mattress was uncomfortably lumpy and in dire need of replacement, and one of the bedside lamps flickered like it was auditioning for a horror film.

FAB MOTEL SITUATED IN THE HEART OF MAURITIAN LIFE

Greeted at the airport by a family member, my stay was perfect from the start. The family who own and run this establishment are delightful. I was only staying one night In Transit to Reunion, but I was given advice on where to eat etc. The guest house was SPOTLESS, and breakfast with fresh pineapple etc was a good start to the day. Mahebourg itself is a lively town just a few minutes from Blue Bay. If you want to see TRUE Mauritian life rather than gated holiday complexes then this is the place for you. The colour and vitality will leave a lasting impression on you.
