Seasonal Road Closure Notice: HWY 120 (Tioga Pass) generally closes for the winter from late October through late summer. Daily closures can also occur during periods of inclement weather in spring and fall. The Eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park is located 45 minutes from Mammoth Lakes. Yosemite's Eastern Gate or Tuolumne Meadows is not accessible when Tioga Pass is closed. All other Yosemite National Park entrances are open year round. The location and just the fact that you are basically in a hope made it ideal for a family vacation. We are already planning our return next summer (and want to stay in VDI).

Great for a big group
It has 3 rooms, 2 with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed that's great for 1 kid on top and 2 on bottom. The living room also has a sofa bed. It's next to a big shopping mall with restaurants, bars and shops, so you have options to dine just by walking through a nice bridge. It was clean and well preserved, we did not experience noise from outside. We did not know thtat 2 rooms are below, so you have to go down a staircase that was somewhat tilted.After a big hike it was a challenge to go up and down those stairs.

The condo smelled like cigarette smoke despite being nonsmoking supposedly. It was awkward because the condo was full of personal family photos and items. It did not feel or look very clean. It had a lot of space but it did not match the standards I expect. I do not plan to book through this place again and will be very careful to make sure any place I book is AAA approved.
