I stayed at this hotel for a week, and I can honestly say I experienced many of the same pros and cons mentioned in other reviews.
I originally booked my stay to begin on the day my flight arrived, I was to land in Manila at 2:30 AM. I reached out to the hotel to request an early check-in, but they informed me that I'd need to book an additional night to check in that early so I did. No big deal.
Check-in itself went smoothly, but things went downhill when I saw my room. I was placed on the 3rd floor, which required a long walk through a maze of rooms and a dingy laundry area that looked like a dungeon. The room itself was disappointing: the shower showed signs of mold, the safe was broken, the air conditioning unit was old and dirty, and the TV was outdated with no app access and a fuzzy picture.
I'm not usually one to complain, but I couldn't imagine staying in that room for a week. I requested an upgrade, and to their credit, the staff handled it well. Someone escorted me to a room on the 12th floor to check it out first. The difference was night and day: modern shower, newer TV, clean refrigerator, and a generally fresher feel. They charged an extra $20 USD per night for the upgrade, and it was absolutely worth it. I booked my original room through Expedia, and based on what I've read in travel forums, that might explain the lower-quality room. If I had stayed in the original room, this would've been a one-star review.
