Matapouri Bay on the Tutukaka Coast is a top spot for the family holiday.
This 2 bedroom apartment is on the ground floor so as you step out your front door you are ten steps from being on the beach.
Situated in the middle of the beach you have prime position and prime view over the beach and out to the famous Poor Knights Island.
Just 6 mins drive away is Tutukaka which is home to the well known Dive Tutukaka. Here you can book trips to the Poor Knights Island for a Dive or just a sight seeing trip, you can also dive two of the navy ship wrecks along the coast..
If you like to Kayak the property has 2 for use but you must bring your own life jackets.
Another 5 mins drive away in Sandy Bay which is a very popular surf spot if you wanting rip it up on the waves...
Matapouri is also home the the famous Mermaid Pools. Just note you may want to ask the locals for advice if you wish to take the walk there..
There is one offroad carpark available for your use.

From there it’s a 20 minute walk up and over a hill to reach the Mermaid Pools. Deep blue tide pools that you can swim in, worth the extra work to get there.

When it says beach front IT IS beach front. Awesome property with fully equipped kitchen, large lounge and bedrooms.

Fantastic location

The location is amazing, beachfront Matapouri is stunning. Owners great to deal with, property was reasonably well equiped, having a (clothes) dryer would be a great addition. The reason for only 3 stars, was that the property was damp (& smelled damp) and in some spots it was actually leaking on internal walls/ranch slider. We mentioned it to owners, they were aware of it and said they’ve tried to get it fixed, but has been challenging/problematic. We paid almost $500/night for our stay, which is high for a damp and leaking property, even if it is stunning beachfront. May stay again but likely only in peak of summer (where likely to not have any rain).

Perfect location ! literally on the beach ! House is ok, but could do with maybe doors/ window screens to allow fresh air !! without the worry of mosquitto and moth invasion. We stayed for 6 nights , after the 3rd night - you start getting the musty smell. (thus the flow of fresh air would make the longer than 2 nights stay perfect !) .

Top spot

This was a great place to stay. Clean, tidy, fabulous outlook out to the offshore islands across a beautiful white sand beach just a few steps from the panoramic glass doors.

Can’t deny this is the best spot on the beach

This Bach is all about location, right on the beach. Amazing view from the front. It’s right next to the busy beach carpark( it was Easter so busier than normal) so we kept blinds closed to the length of the house for privacy which did leave us in the dark a bit. Our choice though and focused our view out the front to the beach! Good quality linens made for comfy beds and kitchen had everything we needed. The bathroom doubles as the entrance hall which was sometimes a bit inconvenient - hadnt realised this from the description but I’m not sure it would have stopped me booking. Knew the hosts were on hand if we needed them but they left us to it to enjoy the spot for the weekend.

ON the Beachfront

This is the downstairs unit of a two storey house. It is as advertised and is beachfront with a small incline down to the sand. There is everything you need for your stay supplied: linen, bath towels, tea towels, plates etc.There is also a washing machine. The place is well set up and comfortable. The people upstairs are very helpful and friendly. This was a fabulous spot. Fully recommend
