"Very nice hotel but more suited to connoisseurs of food ,which was exceptional with prices to match. With only the al a carte menu I’m not sure it suit the average holiday maker unless eating out elsewhere most days. I spent over £350 for six evening dinners excluding wine. Sometimes after a days walking you just want steak and chips not a very prettily decorated plate as tasty as it maybe it’s not going to satisfy your hunger. I’m not knocking the food it was absolutely delicious but every night with no wholesome alternatives? Not for everyone. Save it for your 50th anniversary not a base camp for exploring Devon."

"The owner is very friendly and responds very quickly to any question. The house was clean and we were welcomed with homemade bread, honey and eggs from the chickens that wander around."

"Good size property with plenty of utensils etc.Quiet, peaceful setting with open fields at the rear. We were a party of 8 people. Modern kitchen with a good sized fridge and separate freezer.One thing that needs changing are the two single beds downstairs which were very uncomfortable as you could feel the springs. This was also brought up by another person back in 2024.Other than that everything was fine."

"Wir hatten ein paar wundervolle Tage an diesem zauberhaften, ruhigen Ort. Dartmoor, Plymouth und die Westküste/Cornwall sind super zu erreichen. Man kann aber herrlich auch einfach die Seele baumeln lassen. In Bere Alston gibt es zwei kleine Supermärkte und eine Haltestelle vom Zug. Die Küche ist voll ausgestattet. Der morgendliche Blick auf den Fluss aus dem Bett heraus ist einfach herrlich! Frische Eier, Milch und Brot haben uns bei der Ankunft begrüßt :) Jonathan war super freundlich und hilfsbereit."

"Great sized property for our needs. Comfortably sleeps 8 people and large dining and seating areas. Great for our games in the evening’s. Smelled like the people before us had a curry before they left as it was on the carpet, the bin, the table mats and splatted in the kitchen. I cleaned these up. There is also a cobweb over the light above the dining room table. Other than that it was clean and well equipped with all the plates, cups and utensils you would need. Slight smell downstairs in the bedrooms but it was nice and cool and dark having the rooms downstairs. We had a lovely time exploring Cornwall annd Devon and didn’t get to use the swimming pools (the outdoor one looks smaller in real life). We used the pub on the last night to eat and they were very accommodating, fitting us all in the dining hall! The food was nice and reasonably priced. Overall we had a great time and would re-book here again. Thank you! "
