The Abom is the worst hotel in the best location. There are a number of other hotels and lodges around to choose from, though this one is really in the best spot for accessing ski school. Everything else about the Abom is terrible. The blinds were broken and we couldn't open or close them. The doors and windows allowed cold wind to blow into the room. The bathroom tiles were chipped and broken. The bathroom sink was broken in the middle. The shower was full of mould. There was a kettle, but you couldn't fill it in the sink, as it didn't fit under the tap. There were only two powerpoints, one that had the fridge connected, so you had to disconnect the fridge to make tea. The other was over the sink, so to charge our 4 devices, they had to be on the bathroom sink. There was never anyone at reception. All up terrible place but a great location.

Excellent location opposite Mercedes chair. The hotel is very run down and tired. We expected better for the price! Proper ski racks would be good in the drying room. Great staff on reception made up for some of it. Very helpful and welcoming.

Great location. My family and I were in a quad bunk room. Bunks were so squeaky that we hardly slept. Our room was right near reception so we’re also woken by noise from guests coming in the front door all night. Drying room was not very dry. Showers were great though!

No one at the front desk. i waited for a while and said “hello” many time to have someone came out. Property was very messy... room is not fully cleaned, the fridge still has half opened stuff from previous people..

Fantastic value for money, and while the rooms were basic, they were well appointed and comfy. Loved the bistro and pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food-dinner was great. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.

Good for walks and hikes. Better to come in winter else might be a ghost town :-( Nevertheless, the restaurant serves great food, especially chicken parmesan and spaghetti carbonara! Also, breakfast packs provided in the room were real handy :-)

Terrible,dirty,overpriced,no tv remote and zero updates since the 80’s.Couple This with an unmanned reception and rude staff in the bistro it wasn’t a pleasant stay and I will be chasing compensation for not receiving what I paid for.

Great location but we finished a day of skiing before 5 pm and there was no one at reception. There's a number to call and luckily one of us had a local SIM card. The staff came few minutes later but then had trouble accessing the computer to get into our reservation and print some forms... Staff was apologetic but forms could have been prepared in advance if they wanted to lock access to computer... Room was basic and per photos. Stayed one night only

Great location
Hotel is placed right at the centre of Mt Buller with the main lifts right outside the front door. Given that the mountain was full, highly disappointed to be exited from the dining bar area at 9pm on Friday night, despite the fact that I was with a group of 12+ Adults and our children. It's sad to see such a key Buller location lose its vibe and atmosphere. Wouldn't stay again, it's clean and tidy but there's much better value and facilities available.

Disappointing
Good in that it’s close to the slopes and there is a Bar and cafe upstairs. Breakfast doesn’t start until 9am though. Rooms were very dated and not cleaned properly. Doors and windows are literally taped up. Staff were very unhelpful. Walls are so thin you can hear everything in the rooms next door and above. Was good having private bathroom , but it doesn’t feel clean. Overall , overpriced for what it is. Feels more like a backpackers than a family hotel.

I maybe being a bit harsh on the room comfort, but the room was cold, it took days to heat up! I suspect being a summer time visitor not a lot of people had stayed in the room prior, in fact the gas to the heater was off at the main. The most frustrating part of the our stay came on the second night after I had spent the day racing a 100km mountain race I returned to the building at around 9.15pm only to find neither of our keys worked. All staff were gone and there were no emergency numbers we could contact to let anyone know there was a problem. We went across to the place across the road that was still open who let us in out of the cold and made numerous phone calls trying to raise the supervisor. Eventually someone from Mansfield was on their way to let us in. At a bit after 11.00pm we got back in!

Basic room with comfortable bed. Spacious bathroom. Clean throughout. Staying in mid-Feb, this hotel had one of the few restaurants that was open in the area. Friendly staff, close to the village centre.

Good location!
We stayed at the Abom over the weekend, we took our little 15month old girl with and i was skeptical taking her with to begin with however the hotel was warm and cosy and welcoming. A few minor flaws- floors were a bit dirty and the resturant food was over priced however we stayed in a room near the reception which was quiet. We were hoping for a view however we got a small taste with the balcony door overlooking the mountain but the rollerblind was broken. For the price we paid and location i definitely reccomend it, we still had a cosy stay regardless and even managed to get a good rest with the little one whom had a blast playing with the mirrored robes all weekend. Not your A class hotel however provides a comfortable stay!

The only downside to our Snow Trip
It was hard walking all the way up with a toddler but other than that, location was ok, but that's where the positive stops. Room was very small but that was fine as we only stayed 2 nights. The toilet had a horrible urine smell worst than a public toilet, the furniture was full of dust and we found someone else's socks under bed. The heating wasn't appropriate for snow season we could hardly feel it. The cold air would come through the windows and move the curtains also the door to the balcony opened up 3 times during the night. It wasn't safe at all especially with minus degree weather. Very disappointed overall.

I will ensure all of the balcony doors are checked as this is the first complaint about them swinging open I am aware of and that is obviously not a good thing. I have asked the housekeeping team to be more vigilant regarding checking bathrooms and under beds etc.... I live part-time at the Abom in an apartment and I have not noticed the heating not working myself, but this year for the first time we are getting complaints about the heating and as a result we will be looking at that in detail over summer. Great hotel - close to everything.
Great hotel - close to everything. Replied to my request promptly by e-mail. Was pleased my request had been met when we arrived at the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was basic but, clean, tidy, comfortable and WARM. Family had a meal in the restaurant which was lovely. They had breakfast boxes in the rooms which was a lovely thought and made a great start to the day. I would stay here again.

Abom had a good deal on so was cheaper than some of the other ski in / ski out options on Mt Buller. It was comfortable and fine for a stay where you're not in your room very much.
