The room was fine, clean and comfortable. Walls are thin and maybe we were unlucky to have noisy workers next to us who got up at 6 each morning. The pool was cold. Maybe it's heated in Winter but would have been nice to have a swim in a warm pool in April since it was below 10 outside

Nice position. Bit disappointed in the room we got. Door into hallway wouldn't lock... worn out, shower screen broken, currently using shower curtain, only base sheet on beds no cover sheet, who knows used the doona cover last that was suppose to keep us warm, we ended up getting one we had in the car and taking doona cover off the bed. Room nothing like photos on web. The guys were very welcoming and had a nice breakfast.

Right next to Chamois makes it very accessible to the ski runs. Old but in good repair. Lovely staff. Basic breakfast but it is fine for the money. Bit noisy at night with the bar. Great to have a balcony room with views over Bourke St. Room was spacious. Would stay again.

The location is great. Only 200 metres walk to central Village town. Great family Italian Restaurant and Sports Bar. Stayed a week and had many evenings inside having a few drinks playing pool with the family followed by simple tasty Italian food in the Restaurant. The Staff were fantastic and ALWAYS helpful, with a special thanks to Indie.

The service was good. Location is a bit further, but price was good for the value. Only the sound proof was not very good.

Good basic budget accommodation
You get what you pay for. Good basic accommodation but on mountain. Really creaky beds so whenever anyone in the family moved, it'd wake everyone else up... Great restaurant downstairs with great food. Fantastic location for price and convenience.

After spending six years at a lodge that we couldn’t get into this year, we gave the Alpine Retreat a go. After reading several reviews, our expectations weren’t too high Baeyer on the cost of the stay. With 2 adults and 3 children, we stayed in one of the smaller rooms. We did ask for a microwave to allow warming of some basic food for lunch which was provided. Prior to our stay I sent several email with questions and communication was prompt and concise. The luggage storage area for arrival and departure days is small but sufficient. The kids enjoyed the games room and pool. The room was bigger than we expected and clean. Not being able to open the window meant we had to leave the door open to create some airflow at times, but no biggie. Breakfast is basic but again was more than we expected. The kids loved what they referred to as “all you can eat breakfast”. 4 kinda of serial, two sorts of toast, apple and orange juice, water, instant coffee and tea. Butter, strawberry and raspberry jam, vegie mite and honey. Plenty to get you started. The drying room and ski storage area were larger than expected. Due to the large amount of snow, the back entrance was a little icey. We stayed on the third floor and some distance from the bar, so noise was not an issue, I could imagine staying closer could be noisy. The Wifi was ok, nothing earthmoving during peak times as expected. Overall good value for money.

Party backpackers; not for families or couples.
The location was great and the rooms were reasonably priced. I was disappointed in the staff. We had booked an ensuite room. We did not sleep one night as some guests or staff members decided to party, and slam doors. After being told to quiet down by the manager, a guest took it upon herself to continue to slam doors well into the early hours of the morning. The floors of the bar were sticky. A staff member decided to have a massage on the couch by the fire by another employee. It was a mess. Such a hotel could have so much potential! It's such a shame!

Perfect location
Ski right out onto the ski slopes, come back to the lodge via the chair lift. Alternatively you can catch a free bus, bus stop located in front of the lodge. it is also 5 min walk to the village. The lodge has its own bar, restaurant, pool and spa (spa did not work but it was hot and still good to relax in). There is a shop where you can hire all the skis, snow boards and clothing - so no need to get it anywhere else, just rock up to the lodge and get it all there. The prices are better than in the village. Good value for money - not a 5 star Hyatt Hotel but it has everything you need or more than the other places.

Very old needs upgrade. Matress with springs popping out. The door to one of the apartment opens into the games room. you have children playing in there from 7am. Very annoying!

Think twice before you book this Hotel
Payed big $$$ for this hotel with high expectations after reading the description and looking at pictures of the room and facilities. After arriving, first disappointment was the swimming pool out of order for the duration of our stay (Not a nice pool anyway looking at it), room looked better in pics than it actually was, room floors very dirty, dishes dirty. no tea towel in kitchen, buffet breakfast was only cereal and toast(big disappointment), Loud music until 1am from Bar downstairs, activity room cramped and less than average table tennis table and other games for kids. I can say the staff were nice to deal with and had no problems there, great bunch of staff but the Hotel itself was very disappointing!! I would not stay here again and definitely would not recommend this to anyone else. Very disappointed!

One area spoiled the experience
I really do want to give out good rating, the staffs are excellent, the location is really good (few min walk to village central), the rooms are ok. However, the live band down stair just ruin the experience. the music are so loud it was just like next to your ear, it started from 9pmish until 12.30am. i'm not sure if its just on for the peak season but during our 3 nights the live band were on for 2 nights. if you're young couples then its ok but if you have kids tag alone then i suggest you stay somewhere else or check with hotel staff to see which dates the live bands will be on before make your decision (the dates shown on hotel website isn't accurate).

This has to be the worst place on the entire mountain. The walls of our room were WET. Mould growing in the corners, no running water when we arrived, and the pool appears to be shut for the season. Basically AVOID AVOID AVOID.

It started operation when we stayed. Alot of things not available like WIFI, not enough servicing staff during breakfast time. The room near and above the PUB/Club really very loud and till late so if you are a light sleeper advise for a room away from it. The room provided towel and bath soap only. Room light abit dim and clean. continental breakfast served. Overall still good

Basic and dated but a comfortable and clean hotel.
We didn't stay our full stay (as the snow melted and we couldn't get the whole weeks skiing in). However the time we were there was good. The place was comfortable and had all that was required in a hotel room. We spent a bit extra to get a balcony room but couldn't open the door to the balcony!! I'm not sure if it was locked or jammed or we just couldn't open it. Free wifi was a bonus and the included continental breakfast was basic but okay. They had a pub downstairs and a band that played late one night (to about midnight). The band was great but was loud enough that if you were a light sleeper or had young children it would not have been welcome! The place is a bit tired and dated but it's fine if you just want a place to stay that's close to the slopes. I'd stay there again.

The people at the ski rental shop were just amazing and really welcoming. The receptionists on the other had just do not have the personalty... just too stoic for me. They must have been busy from the time being the peak of winter season but they could at least throw a smile. Carpet underneath the double bunk was lifted and needs fixing. Best thing about the rooms though is that it was really warm and cozy. clean room with clean sheets were available. Disappointed with a certain bar staff though. quite rude when I asked if they do room service and I was me with "roon service? we are a restaurant" ehmmm i kinda know that. I was only asking because I was staying at the hotel. The reply after knowing i was a guest at the hotel became less sarcastic....

Run down chalet close to the village
A crumbling down old place in need of an overhaul. We had a balcony room but the door didn't open to step on to it. The shower door fell off when it opened so we had a man in our room for an hour trying to fix it. The sauna didn't work and it took a day for the floor heating to warm up. Breakfast was basic and check in at 4pm and discharge at 10am. Forgot to mention the open mic night with locals screaming out their version of Wonderwall under my bedroom.

There is no shampoo or conditioner but there are plenty of towels and enough soap in the showers. Rooms are always warm and very nice kids gaming area.

Neglected and in need of a clean.
Very dissapointing. The room was run down and in need of a good clean. The tiles in the bathroom were falling off, the shower screen was badly cracked, the floor was so dirty we wore our shoes inside, the linen had stains on them?, and the toilet flush button was broken so we had to remove the cistern lid and flush manually by lifting the valve.(even after reporting it 3 times). Other wise, the staff were friendly and the room was quiet. A great location.
