Property is located in the Arab district of Munich so its culturally a little different compared to rest of the city. Great food in the area. Overall, for the price I would say it is worth it.

There was no tea/coffee maker, and although we were two people staying for three nights, there were only two coffee capsules provided. Terrible experience – do not go there.

We stayed here for six nights. The staff are very friendly and also helpful. There is a nightclub near the hotel, so on weekend nights the crowd can be a bit mixed, but the room soundproofing is still pretty good. The room is spacious, but the family room only has one chair. It would be better if there was one more. The toilet door lock is not very smooth. Closing the door requires some force and is quite noisy. The room cleanliness is generally good, but we found a previous guest’s sex toy under the bed.

Near station, down a very busy & noisy street. However, the double glazing keeps the noise out and the aircon keeps the room cool. Recently decorated room with good bathroom and shower. Could do with a shelf above the basin and some hooks for towels. Functional, decent value and opposite a brewery!

Summary: An okay hotel in Munich's red light district, Astor offers what you need, with a few execution details. Pros: Secure room and property. Safe. Friendly staff. Clean sheets and towels. Bathroom was clean overall. Cons: Floor was cracked and slightly dirty. Bathroom had one out of three lights working. Shower is open-style, without curtain, and water sprays onto bathroom floor. Shower drain would not drain efficiently, backing up during short showers. HVAC controls were awkward, requiring an unlocking procedure to enable adjustment. Pillows were a little lumpy.

München hätte schön sein können... in einem anderen Hotel. Check-in lieblos, Rezeptionisten sprechen wenig oder kein Deutsch. Zimmer im 6. Stock, Aufzug nur bis zum 5. Stock. Zimmer grundsätzlich ordentlich, aber teils etwas abgewohnt. Sehr hellhörig, feiernde, schreiende Menschen und Poltern anderer Gäste lassen einem keinen Schlaf. Morgens ist die Rezeption nicht besetzt (bis 8 Uhr etwa). Im Hotel werden Bauarbeiten durchgeführt, ich hatte jeden Tag ein Baustellen-Kabel direkt vor meiner Zimmertür liegen, Stolpergefahr! Die Flure sind durch die Baustelle etwas schmutzig, das wird nicht gereinigt. Täglich waren Feuerschutz-Durchgangstüren mit einem Feuerlöscher aufgehalten. So geht Brandschutz ... Frühstück: Radio im Raum sehr laut, musste darum bitten, es leiser zu machen, das wurde dann auch gemacht. Dazu extrem laute Geräte (Kühltheke etc). Große Auswahl an Antipasti/Salaten, alles in Öl eingelegt oder sehr fettig, hier wird wohl ans Katerfrühstück gedacht. Das aufgeschnittene Gemüse wirkt nicht mehr sehr frisch. Kein frisches Obst. Trockene Aufbackbrötchen, der Kaffeeautomat reißt es auch nicht raus. Insgesamt habe ich schon in mancher Jugendherberge besseres Frühstück bekommen. Bis 8 Uhr war ich dort auch der einzige Gast. Kühlschrank im Zimmer kühlt nicht, ist dreckig und riecht von innen. Getränke sind nicht drin. Umgebung: mitten im Bahnhofsviertel - es handelt sich um ein Ausgeh- und Szeneviertel, das Hotel liegt zwischen Sexshops, Wettbüros und Tabledance.

I do not recommend.

We were treated by friendly staff, but were very surprised that the every member of the family had to provide a copy of the passports as part of the check in process. Room was on 5th floor, elevator went to the 4th. The room had sewer gas’s smell, which turned out to be a know issue in the building. The hotel was in a noisy location, but we arrived late and needed to put our heads down, because of struggling with jet lag. I would not recommend.
