Amezing location, safe and relaxing

It was just dream came through! Ocean and stars just out of big ocean front balcony ! We loved everything about our condo !

Great location!

Property is very nice and great location. The unit we stayed in A3 is weathered and dated and no a/c so just be aware of that! Sullivan was very good to work with, There are lots of stairs around resort and no elevators so if you are not very mobile this might not be the right spot for you!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kahana Sunset is a gem - everything you need right there. 50 steps to the ocean and 100 steps to the pool. Bbqs with a view and turtle and whale sightings galore. The unit A3 could use a bit of updating and could be more thoughtfully equipped ( would be nice to have mugs and drinking glasses bigger than 2 sips), but adequate given amenities of the resort. Good bed and shower, but needs new carpet. Daly and updating kitchen and ensuite would go a long way.

3 WEEKS in paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 5th year at Kahana Sunset, and we love it there. The grounds are well kept and Lance and Junior take good care of everything outside. Our unit, #A3 is ocean front, which we love, but very run down and a bit dirty. We keep hoping the owners will update it some, but not yet! It has everything we need, but not much pride in the unit.

Dream Family Vacation Location!

This was our fourth time staying at the Kahana Sunset Resort. We would never think of staying anywhere else. Great location, great staff, and a great overall experience. Highly recommended!!

Location, location, location.

If you like being in the water then this your place. There's a lovely strip of golden sand that entices you out to a great snorkeling area around a reef of rock and coral. There's a convenient outdoor shower area to rinse off the sand and salt water. And there's a beautiful pool. For sun worshipers there is a lovely lawn area surrounded by well tended gardens. We even picked some fresh limes off the garden's lime tree. The 2 story suite has two patios areas, one above the other. They face West for a lovely sunset view. We had fun counting the whale leaps as we enjoyed our breakfasts on the patio. The sound of the waves rolling over the reef at night made for a soothing lullaby. The condo is low key. It's kitchen has all the tools you'll need. There's a grocery store that's a pleasant 4 block walk up the quiet road. We enjoyed our stay.

Review of second stay in A3 2023

This is my second stay at Kahana Sunset A3 in two years. The property manager is excellent to work and communicate with. I believe housekeeping does a very good job considering the condition of the unit. Outside grounds are very clean and beautifully maintained. This particular unit is very tired and overall feels dirty. It needs a good refresh starting with the furniture and area rug downstairs. The flooring in this unit is probably original and shows its age. It does not feel clean to walk on with bare feet. Last year, it appeared the carpet had recently been replaced on the stairs and in the bedrooms, but this year, it showed a lot of wear and did not feel clean. The kitchen cabinets and drawers are old and feel dirty. There are very few kitchen utensils and cookware, so cooking can be challenging. During my stay, it rained almost consistently for nine days-sometimes quite heavily. All of the other units have a retractable awning that allowed their guests to still enjoy the outdoors, while A3 doesn't have one. This visit the lack of air conditioning was noted during some very warm afternoons and evenings. The view is wonderful and the location of the condo complex is perfect. I really like this area and Kahana Sunset. I probably will spend more money and stay in an updated unit next time. Wish the owners would sink some money into some basic updates. Some new furniture, shower curtains, and kitchen wares don't cost too much and can make a difference.

Beautiful views, unit needs updating

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just spent a very relaxing week at Kahana Sunset in unit A3. The views were amazing!! This was our 6th stay at the property and our first stay in building A. I had read the previous reviews of this unit before deciding to give it a try. We thought it would be neat to stay just above the turtles, and it was! That was pretty much the only great thing about A3. For a million dollar condo unit we thought it could use a lot more updating and AC too!! I won’t go into all the negatives because overall we had a wonderful week. I agree with all previous comments. We will not be returning to A3 unless some changes are made. At least the bed was comfortable. Oh the things I would love to do to that place!! It is in a gorgeous location and has such potential. Kahana Sunset is our favorite property and we will definitely be back. Management and maintenance was excellent and very responsive.

The couple fans they had was definitely not enough. The bathrooms and kitchen is desperate for some updates and cleaning. We were so miserable there we had to go rent a hotel room. The beach was the only thing we thought was good about staying there.

The pictures of the beach on the property are a bit deceiving and we we’re getting bit by something at night so the cleanliness wasn’t great. It was definitely stuffy with out ac. That was mentioned in the listing so it wasn’t a surprise we just expected an oran breeze but it wasn’t well ventilated.

Most incredible property and people

We had the best time!! It was beautiful and safe to allow our kids to run around and explore. The facilities were amazing, the location couldn’t have been better with a short walk to the Market. We are coming back!!

A $50 a day place for $300+

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a property I would have walked out of immediately if I had a chance upon arrival, without losing thousands of dollars. The property is so dated, and so funky it's ridiculous. And having only ceiling fans on Maui on beach front is just plain stupid. No kitchen amenities, like even bare essentials in cupboard- salt and pepper, oil, etc. A large skillet? The non stick finishes are all scratched on what is there, and they should all be thrown out. The furniture is ragged, wood finish peeling off chair arms. We did call and happily maintenance did come right away, to replace the ancient burnt motor and ceiling fan in the LR. And they did replace a broken faucet and toilet that ran non stop for the first 2 days. Cleaning; sub par; had to get behind the headboard to plug in chargers etc, and it was a filth fest on the floor. Had a hard time sleeping due to that. And the bed is probably 70's original. The common patios are an invasion of your privacy-people walking up to your space to take pictures without asking-if you want peace and quiet and no interruptions- not a good place to stay. Even the patio furniture is so dated you feel like you'll fall through it. The vinyl is baked and cracking. This owner needs to get with the times. I'd be too embarrassed to rent it out- and I own rentals.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit is just as advertised. The unit has a great view and is located in a nice area. The bed is comfortable and is located just down the way from a shopping center with good eats. Surprisingly the little market there has fantastic poke. Word is out though so you will want to go in the morning. The Sea Shore restaurant down the way ended up having the best Mai Tai than anywhere else we tried during our trip. Just as the description says, there is no air conditioning. We took showers just before bed to stay cool. All in all it was a good stay but I think next time I’d rather pay more and have air conditioning. I thought we would be cool enough without it but we did have some nights where we were pretty warm. We went in the beginning of October.

Better bed linens, kitchen knives were dull and useless, master bath toilet needs attention, a lot of small details that could improve the unit. It was not real clean and after being there for 5 days I requested another cleaning, which was an additional $150. The floors were still dirty, the carpets were not vacuumed, the toilets were not cleaned. Very disappointed in that. It was easy to overlook all of that as we were in paradise.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location. Lovely to be right on the water. The resort is clean and lovely, we especially enjoyed the beach and pool. The condo itself (A3) is in need of some repair (one of the nobs on stove is on order, second bedroom cold facet is too tight, wiring on downstairs ceiling fan is sketchy, there are holes in downstairs flooring) as well as being outdated. However the furniture was fine. It is cheaper than other units on the water but be aware there are more issues than just being out of date. Would definitely stay at and recommend Kahana Sunset but would not return to A3.

The Location is Amazing

Everyday we were able to watch turtles swimming from the balcony. The location itself was great. The actual condo is dated and they do have ants so NOTHING can be left out, not even a semi dirty dish or there will be ants swarming in the sink. The pull out couch was comfortable. We did not have any issues sleeping at night with not having AC in the unit, Running the fans kept everyone comfortable. I would stay here again. For the price and location it was great for us. We just kept all foods put away and washed any dishes used at the time we used them.
