Unless you are a seasoned traveller to the smaller Greek Islands, arriving at Naxos either by Port or Airport will come as a little bit of a surprise! The Airport is very small, Ah and then the port... The rush to disembark, and locals and tourists alike embarking is just perfect mayhem, but the sight of Naxos town, the Portara, and the shimmering sea will have suddenly put Naxos in your heart... perhaps forever?
Next you have to negotiate the roads of Naxos to find what is perhaps the best kept jewel on the Island – Kamari Village. The scenery is breathtaking out towards Mikri Vigla and Ornos. Soon you pass a few local restaurants ( try them all ) When you reach the Taverna “To Kamari” your drive is almost at an end – turn sharp left up the hill and be prepared to fall in love!
I find it hard to say what my wife and I love most, the view, the welcome, the pool, the house... what words can describe the view; looking out over the blue blue sea to up to 7 islands, the closest Paros over which you will experience sunsets like no other (well certainly after a glass of wine!) The accommodation is very private and what’s more you can be as private as you want or as gregarious as you want – Kamari Village has it all. If you have a house with a private pool it will be spotless and kept that way throughout your stay. Everything is spotless at Kamari Village; why?
Look no further than Zahia & Kamal who will greet you as friends if you are a first time visitor or if like us after many many visits, they care about this place, they love it, and nurture it with Vasso and many others it is their home and it shows.
Our House has a washing machine, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer, in fact virtually all you need, plus lots of useful pots, plates, bowls – its home from home. You will find all you need here and if you don’t – just ask, nothing is too much trouble for Zahai & Kamal.
Beaches nearby are superb, some are clothes optional so be prepared; enjoy your own spot your way.
Lastly as night falls, step out and climb the stairs to the roof of your house or lay back on a sun lounger and marvel at the stars in the velvet blue night sky.... Paradise.
Oh and now its time to fall in love... you will you know! And how will you know? As you drive away at the end of your stay there will be tears – just like parting from a loved one. Try it – you'll love it.
