The obvious ambience/antiquity with fabrics, mirrors, and wood with hand painted crown molding. The only thing I thought would be nice is a change of sheets after two days - just saying. They extended our check out time due to a late flight home and allowed us to store our heavy luggage in the outside patio under umbrella.

Very comfortable room excellent communication with staff. Only improvement would be a noon checkout, 10am is too early. Also unable to store bags onsite for an afternoon flight. Location was ideal, close to everything and quiet.

The guest house was very well equipped with everything crammed into a small bedroom. The outside patio was great. We sat out there morning and early evening. There was no where to sit in the bedroom. We had everything we needed for 1/3 or less the price of a French Quarter hotel.

This quintessential New Orleans historical property was fabulous. It was close enough to all the night action on Bourbon street but just far enough away to be quiet. We always felt safe. There were four of us and we stayed in the Suite, it had everything we all needed. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the room, other than sleeping but it was easy for us to all shower and get ready together. Highly recommend-I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our 3 night stay. The room was clean and cozy. The outdoor seating area was relaxing and a nice place to eat take out from a near by deli. Everything is in walking distance and felt safe. I would have liked more towels in Linen closet but our stay was great. I will definitely be back.

The place is in a great spot, very walkable, lots to do. The room we stayed in was ok, called The Suite, had lots of amazing furniture and kept with the decor. Our biggest issue was the floor, it was filthy, could not walk on it without shoes on, your socks and feet would be dirty, not clean at all. I believe I was bit by some sort or maybe, spider, 4 large bites on my hand and very itchy. The company running the rooms, had me wondering, half way through, said I had not paid for our stay, when I did through the Expedia app, and once I sent in my receipt, I got no response, just had us both wondering. Not sure I would stay again….unfortunately

We reserved the Garden Room for 4 nights in March 2024 based on the great reviews. Unfortunately, the room did not meet our expectations or match up to the high reviews. We stayed one of the four nights we booked. There was nothing about this room that made it livable. First was the overwhelming smell of chemical cleaner – an artificial, flowery scent that made me sneeze and I’m sure contributed to the migraine I developed that night. We arrived late and so went to bed soon. My husband quickly noted that the bedding smelled of mildew. The mattress was awful, it sagged in the middle (and both my husband and I are small people), so we just ended up in a tangle in the middle of the bed. The pillows were like bags of cement. Of the 4 pillows, none were soft or malleable. The refrigerator made a high-pitched squealing noise. In the morning, I texted the number for Rare Space Hospitality that had been listed in the email I received before arriving. At 9:00 an email message was sent from RSH “checking in to make sure everything is going well and you are enjoying the house”. At 9:26 I called the number, pressed the button for an urgent matter and sat on hold for a full 10 minutes before the system looped me around to tell me that it was “after hours” and no one could help me. We went to a new hotel after that. While there were some good things about the the Royal Barracks Guest House: location, quaint historic building, quiet, and seemingly safe, the Garden Room is not a g

this was a pleasant place to stay, and in a very convenient location. I would stay here again if I am in a similar situation. The room was small but had what it needed to have, except for a box of tissues (I asked about this the first day I was there and was told "we don't provide that," despite the fact that virtually every hotel and motel room in the country supplies tissues). Also the Kuerig coffeemaker didn't work. That one is partially on me because I didn't report it for a few days, but instead of coming by with a replacement, I was told I could use the coffeemaker outside in the patio. The basic oddity about the RBGH is its essentially remote management. I never saw or spoke to a management person, although I did see the housekeeper a couple of times. Everything is done by email, the door codes are set remotely. If you have a problem you have to email about it and wait for an email response. For all I know the owners, or managers, don't even live in Louisiana.

We had a great stay in the bunk room. We used the courtyard everyday. Location is great. One night the temperature really dipped and our room was 66 during the night and we couldn't control the heat in our room or didn't know how? Maybe it was in the binder provided? We would definitely stay again, but maybe not in the winter if we can't turn on or control heat?

Love this surrounding, you can walk to so many place for good food and art. The only worries are the 2 hours parking at the door, but nothing only Tuesday 8:00-12:00 street cleaning. Definitely invite others to come, even sit in back patio doing laundry is very enjoyable, not to mention the bedding are in heaven….what else? Please come and tell me

This was a wonderful place to spend 3 nights. Beds are GREAT!, room beautiful, tight and clean and cutie pie. Great garden space for mornings, right in French quarter. When can we come back??

The location could not be any better. Close to the French Quarter but still in a quiet area. The accommodation is full of charm and although quite small it has all that is required.

We arrived early and were able to leave our bags in the courtyard. However, it was a cold day so no wandering around New Orleans as planned. We were not able to get our room early and when we did the heat hadn’t been turned on! Only had a small little heater. We checked out and went somewhere else.

Do-it-yourself but still a good stay
Charming place in a good location in the French Quarter. Rooms are small but comfortable. One issue is that no one is on site, and it is difficult getting service. We had problems getting the TV to work correctly. Alll in all, a good stay in NOLA.

Loved this room! Perfect for a weekend getaway. Very quiet yet walking distance from the French Quarter. Each unit has its own entry so I did not have to speak or see another guest the entire time. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Property is self contained- no staff there. In a great location. Room was clean but very small, closet but no drawers to put some of our clothes. The door to room wouldn’t stay locked, making us concerned about our belongings. Bathroom door knob needs replacing- difficult to close and open. If they fix the doors its not a bad place in general.

Loved staying in a historic guest house in the French Quarter. Our room was clean, comfortable and had great amenities. They truly care about their guests. The courtyard was beautiful. It's a very walkable location and in a lovely quiet neighborhood. We plan on staying there on our next trip!

My mom and I had a wonderful stay at this property. It's right in the heart of the French Quarter, with everywhere we wanted to go within easy walking distance, including Bourbon Street. Yet, the street is super quiet and we felt safe. We stayed in the bunk room, and we were so surprised at how comfy the beds were. The room was very clean, and the linens and towels all smelled freshly washed.
