Just being honest
The Good: the apartment is very clean. The communication was very good with host. The park just a block away is beautiful and a nice walk The host provides plenty of toilet paper, shampoo, soap and drinking water which was really great. Also they have a fresh fruit/veg stand just around the corner.
The Bad: the beds are the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept on, we fought over the couch because it was actually soft.
The following complaints the owner has no control over but it’s information I would have wanted before booking here….the neighbors when we arrived were playing music so loud the base made your teeth chatter. Weed is legal in NY and it is used a lot around the place so the smell is intense. Walking to the apartment we felt unsafe but inside it was better however we discovered the windows do not lock and the fire escape is right there. Last complaint, because the space is so small the bathroom suffers…the average person has a choice you can sit sideways on the toilet or you can try to straddle but if you sit straight you rack your knees against the wall and burn your leg on a hot pipe.
Recommendations: A book with the subway map and favorite places to eat would have been great. Highlight the park with some pictures and add it to the book in the apartment, we almost missed that and it really was a savings grace to the apartment. And most importantly, for the love of God CHANGE those mattresses…the floor was a better option than the trundle bed mattress!
