“Everything was spot on. Thank you”

“Lovely room we stayed in(rye). Looks like it was a living room in it's past life. Lovely decorations and styling. Loved all the hares! (Not hairs). Really comfy bed. Dog hairs evident on the sofa and on the floor in some areas though which is is a negative. No fruit hardly at breakfast, lovely croissant and toast though, please don't charge for supplying lattes, I didn't have a big breakfast at all as I don't eat meat so I thought that was unreasonable for the price.”

“From the outside the property had old style appeal and parking which was a positive however when taken to our room this was at the back of the property and you had to pass washing hanging online, a laundry shed and general toot and tat. The entrance to the stairway to the room went past the back of the kitchen where the door was permanently open so you heard all the usual professional kitchen noises.. The stairway to the room smelt of cooking fat and there were dead flowers on the window with……

“Next to a very busy, noisy road. Cobwebs in bedroom and bathroom plus a long dark hair on my hand towel, which I wiped on my face. The staff were very nice and the food was good though. I wouldn’t return due to cleanliness and noise”

“Everything was so fantastic, the staff were very helpful, the food was amazing. Excellent place. We will definitely be back.”

“Old fashioned property with heaps of charm. Big room and easy check in”

“Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast, we had a great choice of breakfasts, the full English was a bit too big for me, I couldn't finish it, I should have gone for the small English. Plenty of parking. I would recommend booking a table for dinner as soon as possible, this venue is very popular with the locals. We would definitely stay at the Recruiting Sergeant again.”

“Lovely friendly staff, always remembering that I stayed before. We get the room we have requested. We order a vegetarian roast which is outstanding, food delicious and hot. Plenty of parking. Depending where the room is you can hear the traffic going past in the evening & mornings but overall alovely stay. That's why we keep going back and also you have a choice of breakfast part of the deal.”

“Poor maintenance of the property ”

“Accommodation was clean and tidy evening meal excellent together with breakfast we cycled to the property and they were able to store the bike securely”

“When we arrived i bokjed us in and paid before check in and got key everthing fine got shown our room ,then went out with husband and our kids at night getting a fone call from manager saying i had to get out room as i hadnt booked the potion room which i had and i would have to get out that room in the morning , long story short had to go back n proof i had booked the potion room so didnt have to leave n that the wizardry had been double booked, manager didnt have a clue what was going on he……

“Helpful staff. Sorted out parking. Table broken in room. Shower no pressure, dribbled out. Room fan very poor, very little air coming out even at high speed. Complimentary bodywash and shampoo so small not worth open the packed.”

“Great stay amazing staff helpful”

“Rooms are on 2 different levels so very quiet. We stayed in room 2 which was lovely, with tea & coffee etc and very welcome biscuits. No need to bring shower products as they are all provided. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of items (ordered the night before). The fruit salad was fab & I can highly recommend the omelette! My husband had the full English, which he really enjoyed. Offered more tea/coffee & toast. The hosts Jane & Mark were lovely and very helpful regarding the local area……

“It’s not a hotel, it’s a lodging house No facilities, no breakfast”

“Such an easy check in / check out experience and such a lovely and conscientiously maintained facility. It was so so so so so lovely and I would totally stay here again. Also the cake was really good- they give you cake in your room!!!”
