My spouse and I enjoyed our quiet 2 night stay! The other two cabins on the property are closed for the winter so we pretty much had the property to ourselves as we walked around and explored. There was a light dusting of snow from the days before, but it was easy to drive up the hill to the cabin (for our Subaru Forester at least).
We were told that there would be plenty of firewood for a fire, and there was but the selection of dry wood was limited since the wood piles had not been covered and thus were wet from the snow accumulation. There was a good selection downer tree branches across from the cabin though, so we were able to gather enough branches for kindling and had a nice fire both nights.
When we arrived the first night, the property owner came and told us that previous guest complained of cold temps the night before. So Clayton informed us to keep the flap on the heater up, to make sure the heat would continuously blow. We set the temp to 65 and stayed sufficiently warm, even when the fire went out. Bring warm blankets if you stay in the winter, and you’ll be fine!
The cabin had everything we needed - it was clean, secluded, and had a beautiful view to watch the moon rise over the lake, at night. We even saw a bald eagle fly over, in the afternoon. We’re looking forward to coming back in the summer months!
