“This is not a 5 star property so don’t expect a hot breakfast, pool, or spa but…. The property is well kept, quiet, the rooms are very clean, and Denise (the manager) will go out of her way to accommodate you, including loaning you a skillet, egg turner, coffee mug, and paper plates so that you can fix breakfast in your room.”

“Great location! We had 1st floor 1 bedroom with walkout to street. So convenient. Thought it would be loud being street level, but was never an issue. Would definitely book there again. ”

“Like everything about it”

“Ocracoke in the early spring is always a treat and this visit did not disappoint. Red Beard's Retreat is a little gem one block off Hwy 12 across from the village Variety store. Our unit was comfortably furnished and check-in was seamless. We had everything we needed and the housekeeper, Maria, lived upstairs and was always available to answer any questions we had. It was obvious that much time and thought went into the furnishing and design of the unit. We plan to visit again next year and……

“I had surgery around the corner and this spot was super convenient to the surgical centre as well as restaurants, making it easy to not have to over manage. It was peaceful and quiet. Much appreciated. We dint get to play pool but it was certainly enticing.”

“We did a weekend getaway so the area was mostly quite. The place was clean but for the freezer that was full of ice cubes everywhere. It is a great apartment, has just about everything you need. Clean linen which is very important to us. I would have liked a more secure parking place but we had no issues.”

“Nice apartment, plenty of room for our stay. Host was personable and made us feel welcome. Location in quiet neighborhood helped make this a relaxing vacation. Apartment furnished with some extras such as a dehumidifier and water dispenser. Please do watch out for the small step up into the bathroom.”

“This property was very clean. This is very important as I do not like dirty hotels or VRBOs. Easy access, super great location to Biltmore and downtown Asheville. Great little glass blowing shop up the street and walking path near by. Only complaint was you can hear people walking above you but it was very quiet at night, Owner was very nice. Great deal.”
