A large screened in porch, panorama windows, and a deck with a view of the lake encourage a deep exhale as you realize you've left it all behind. This is a place to gather and catch up, to laugh and reminisce, and/or create new memories.
Seating at the central kitchen island means you can chop, slice, mix, and stir as you make meals together over old stories and drinks. The indoor table seats up to 8 adults comfortably as does the oversized picnic table in the screened-in porch. Full kitchen (no dishwasher - may we suggest a game of dice or cards after dinner to see who does the dishes?), BBQ, microwave, fridge, oven and stove, Keurig & Nespresso original, milk frother, toaster, etc. Ceiling fans in every bedroom and in the main area of the cottage cool things down in the heat, and a wood burning fireplace warms things up on a cool evening. Plenty of cozy locations with a stellar view to curl up with a cup of tea or a coffee and a good book.
There is no Wi-Fi... on purpose. Cell reception is good and we've found that data works well too, although a bit slow at times.
Want to get out on the water? A peddle boat, and a canoe are available for you to use. Several adult PFDs available for use or bring your own. The water is shallow off our dock so we most often choose to paddle out on a SUP to deeper water for a swim or canoe to swim and picnic off of the tiny island in the bay. Water shoes are recommended if you'd like to wade out for a swim right off the dock. This is a clean, clear lake that supports a variety of wildlife so don't be surprised if you see a turtle, blue heron, minnows, or ducks while you are here. Be sure to listen for the call of the loons - most often in the evenings. Lots of board games, a ping pong table, a selection of DVD movies, and a wii U in the unfinished basement are all available for use by young and old.
Forgot something, or just want to run into town for an ice cream cone? The small town of Plevena is about 15 minutes away and Sharbot Lake (with more options available) is about a 25 minute drive. If you find yourself looking for a local adventure while at the cottage, and you're here on a Friday or Saturday, we highly recommend taking a drive to Back Forty Bistro Artisan Cheese shop for snacks & drinks . It's delightful.
This is not an accessible property. The view from the cottage is spectacular and the trip to the water is well worth it, but is a long way down, with a lot of stairs. Heading back up to the cottage after an afternoon spent by the water just might count as your cardio for the day!
When was the last time you saw the night sky away from city lights? On a clear night, reclining in a chair on the deck, it's easy to be dazzled by the sheer number of stars in the sky.
We absolutely love this special space and look forward to sharing it with you, who we are certain will love it too.
