This was our second stay at Simon's Place, we like the relaxed, genuine Tongan atmosphere. The owners and staff go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Lovely help yourself breakfast and the cafe meals are delicious too. It's a convenient location, just a short 10 minute stroll to town past the market or to the waterfront and it can be interesting with the wandering dogs (we never had any trouble), cockerels and chickens - even an occasional pig and piglets!! Good location but be aware of street dogs in nearby streets. Hotel was basic, nothing luxurious, but rooms have nice terraces behind their back door. Check in was a mess as there was no one available and doors locked when I arrived, but they compensated it with free late check out which was really nice. One thing I didn't like they knocked doors very early in the morning to ask if I already want to have breakfast and this wasn't nice when I wanted to sleep. Rooms are already kinda noisy when everything is heard through windows from hotel area to running chickens. Breakfast was very limited: bread, cereals, local pancakes, fruits, coffee, tea and juice.
