Room was comfortable and nicely furnished, and the staff was welcoming and helpful. The hotel had nice touches like the common spaces. The location is convenient to plenty of restaurants, civic spaces and walks.

Very nice boutique style hotel in the heart of Downtown Oakland. Near Lake Merritt along with countless restaurants, shops, and public transport. The room was cute, plush and comfortable with new linens, courtyard was super cute. Staff was friendly and even provided pre-check in which was seamless. Would definitely stay again!
Great value of the location as the center of Oakland.

Beautiful room and building, very quiet at night, great parking accommodations, delicious food walking distance and close by to the venue we were attending. Staff was very friendly and informative. We will absolutely be returning when we need to stay in the area.
The room was clean and really nice, staff was friendly, and location was central.
The only complaint I have is that additional fee for pet was not mentioned online. All we were told is that it’s a pet friendly hotel. So paying $40 additional per night came as a surprise.
This recently updated hotel—so new you can even smell the new paint every now and then—is downright beautiful, well-appointed, clean, and spacious, with new furniture, flooring, bathrooms, etc.! And it's right in the heart of everything in downtown Oakland, just steps away from great restaurants and BART and bus connections. I will definitely stay here again!!!
My sister and I had a fantastic stay! The hotel is in a very convenient location; it's unique and has a lot of personality. The room was clean and well-appointed, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff were so helpful and friendly, especially Mere, Jenny, and a third kind woman whose name I didn't catch, who helped us with our luggage. The private parking lot across the street was very helpful. The only small bummer was that the shower did not have the best water pressure. Still, we would definitely stay here again. *Note* this hotel has no elevator, so don't bring super heavy luggage unless you're really strong.
Oaktown Roost is a hidden gem in uptown Oakland. I appreciated the security measures in place and the staff attentiveness. Good central location in the town. Definitely coming back in the future
This is in a rough part of town but all of Oakland is pretty terrible nowadays. You’ll definitely want to request parking if you have your own vehicle there’s only a limited number of spaces and if you have a large truck like mine, you’re gonna be squeezed in there like sardines, but as far as general appearance, comfort and kindness of the staff, it was excellent for an overnight.

The Oakroost met my needs at a reasonable price. The room was fine, the other guests quiet, and the staff were responsive. It is in a bit of a transitional zone in downtown Oakland, but walkable to Asian food, the art museum, and even the Oakland YMCA. A couple of nice coffee shops within walking distance.
Staff was nice and the stay was excellent. Super close to BART, too. The area is a bit sketchy and I heard some people screaming and yelling at night but other than that it was fine.
Staff is great and it's clean and a good value. The hotel itself is a little odd--no elevator to rooms fyi. It's located in Oakland's chinatown so lots of Chinese food options but not much else. There's a fair amount of transient activity on the block but I didn't feel unsafe.
This hotel feels like stepping into someone's peaceful mansion. Enjoyed the common areas with the keurig coffee maker, filtered water, hot water machine and microwave. Several common areas for relaxing and enjoyment, including the outside deck. Rooms were clean and well appointed and minifridge worked well. Could use a few more outlets or usb ports. Staff was helpful and nice. Parking lot was full first night, and is small and expensive ($40), but it gave us peace of mind, even though the area seems clean and decent. Enjoyed our stay here and would return.
Amazing spot and a very fair price. Really well appointed rooms with lots of character and big windows - only drawback was my window was courtyard facing so didn’t have any privacy with curtains open.
At a great central location - near 12th/oakland Bart stop, food, coffee, and a Walgreens within 10 minute walk. It can seem a little dicey at night so I wouldn’t recommend wandering the streets then.
I would definitely stay again!
We had a fantastic stay at Oaktown Roost. Our hallway king room was very spacious, very comfortable, and spotless. The rooftop/courtyard between rooms was a thoughtful touch—it added privacy and made for a perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful morning coffee. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and they had a gated parking lot.
The location was ideal—close to bart and the Fox Theater. It was a great experience all around. Would definitely return.
