Great location.

Purple Rain was an excellent choice for our family. It's a comfortable house with a nice pool and well stocked kitchen. The location is great - very close to the beach and very little traffic since it's near the end of the island.

Perfect Week at Purple Rain

Great property and location. We were blessed with a week of amazing weather and enjoyed the pool and beach. House was perfect size for our large family and bathrooms for each bedroom was a bonus plus a half bath. Morning sunrises with coffee and afternoon breezes with martinis- this house covered it all. We were able to recharge, rest and enjoy our family time.

Perfect week at Purple Rain

Having the beds made upon arrival is KEY with toddlers!! We unloaded and jumped in the pool while grilling on the new grill. From the comfortable beds to the well stocked kitchen our family had everything we needed. Coffee sunrises and wine sunsets on the porch...we will be back next summer!

L great house and great location

House was great. Location was amazing. Such a quick walk to beach. Pool was great. Everything great. The k my issue I had was that the floors were absolutely filthy. They were swept and the rest of the house was clearly cleaned but the floors have not been washed and were very sticky

Purple rain

Great house. Great management. Great location. A couple of issues that we encountered upon our arrival (broken trundle bed and outdoor outdoor speakers) were addressed immediately. The kitchen is well stocked and the two dishwashers were a bonus for our family. Plenty of seating inside and outside for a large family/group The only reason for the overall 4 star rating is the cleaning. Everything was reasonably clean, except for the floors. They didn’t seem to have been vacuumed or mopped thoroughly. You could feel the grit as you walked in for the first time, and the bottom of the kids feet were filthy after walking barefoot on the floor for not too long. Overall our whole family had a great vacation, and we would definitely recommend this house!

Great Stay, with some small caveats

The property is as described. Nice and inviting. However, you may be slightly deceived by the size of the property for a 6bd/6.5ba home given the pictures and the videos.. nevertheless, the home housed all 14 of us, and everyone had a bed to lay their heads. The linen service was fantastic. We were skeptical at first but, everyone was impressed by the linen service. The beds are entirely too springy. The cleanliness of the home left much to be desired. We didn't complain to Josh or Allie; we just cleaned what we needed to once we got in the place. We regret not mopping. The shower (specifically in bedroom 6, top floor) was a bit on the rough side though. A couple of shower doors throughout don't stay closed during a shower, so there was always cleanup afterwards. The pool was fantastic. The HVAC system in the house needs attention. A few of the ducts in the attic may be collapsed/someone may have accidentally stepped on them or something because the air in the rooms poolside, specifically on the top floor, took A LOT of effort to cool. We had to set the thermostat low and leave the doors open. That meant others in the house had to suffer. The kitchen could use some additional wares, but for the most part it's well-equipped. The beach access is perfect. Short walk to the beach. We've been staying at OIB every year for close to 23 years. This house ranks towards the middle to better end of homes we've rented. I would consider renting again.

Purple Rain is the perfect beach house for our family! Short walk to the beach and then home again to jump in the pool. The beds are comfy and the large couch and dining table are kid friendly. Kitchen supplied all our needs for making great meals. We will return again next year!

Had a wonderful time. House was clean and well furnished! Pool and elevator great bonuses. We had a few minor issues that we noticed, ex. Great Family Getaway

We enjoyed every aspect of our week long stay. Each bedroom had an adjoining bathroom which was really ideal. Lots of pool time, but also prime location to the beach. The property manager was fabulous and attentive.

Great stay for Family vaca

Had a great time, plenty of space for all to enjoy. Location on the east end of OIB is great since it is not as crowded. Only wish there was a second fridge even if smaller to keep drinks. We like to cook on vacation so the fridge in the kitchen is full so we had to keep a larger cooler downstairs stocked with iced and drinks for the week. Besides that great place!

Great location. Near beach. Needs some updating. Kitchen amenities are fine but kitchen table is “sticky”. Cleaning crew was short handed and showed up at 3:30. Check in was at 4:00. Cleaning crew wasn’t gone until 5:00. Josh the owner worked with us and refunded some $. Overall week was good

Great House/Great Location

This is a well stocked and beautifully appointed house. Close to the beach. The owners have done a great job of decorating the home in a clean, stream lined manner. Empty closets and drawers lend itself to plenty of space to make it your own for the time you are there. Plenty of beach chairs, toys, etc. More than ample towels provided both for indoors and the beach. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. We had a slight problem with the cleanliness of the tile floor in the main living area and management came immediately to remedy. Overall, we loved the house and plan to return next year.

Be Aware

I normally do not write negative reviews, but the owners treatment has cause me to write this review. After staying here for a week, he kept part of the deposit for extra cleaning time for the house. I left him voicemails and sent emails asking him for evidence of what needed cleaned. I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, none of my efforts were returned. Below is a list of problems that we dealt with at the house professionally unlike the owners treatment of us after the trip 1. The house was not ready by 4 pm check in. The owner actually told me check in was at 3 but we handle it by going to the beach. 2. One of the dishwashers did not work. 3. The door handle for the bathroom door came off. I put it back on for him. 4. There were 2 large hornet nests that we had to walk our kids around to get to the pool. Neither were taken care of during the week. 5. The filter on the refrigerator needed changed. 6. Even though we had no obligation to do so, my wife and I ran outside in a strong storm and moved the furniture so it would not be damaged by the storm. We picked up the trash and recyclables that had blown in the street. We handled all of these with little complaint and then was given the silent treatment from he owner when we returned. So be aware if yo rent this property.

Needs some love

The house was fine and we loved the location. But the house needs some love and attention. There was mold in many of the showers, the bannister railing was broken (someone out tape in it, but it was NOT safe), there was only 1 9x13 pan in the house and very few pans or storage containers, and the laundry huge needs a lock for safety.

Purple Rain

We've been coming to Ocean Isle for 25 years, and this was our rainiest week ever... But, the week was a major hit because of the new house. We've always stayed on the west end of the island, this was our first time on the east. It felt like a whole different island. Purple Rain is perfectly situated between two public beach access points, basically giving you two different beaches for the price of one (it also offers two different ocean views)! The house was clean and we really appreciated not having to pack in our own linens. The private pool was the perfect size for the kids in our group and was cleaned mid-week. The whole process of booking was smooth and the agency was very communicative and responsive. We will definitely book this house again.

Perfect location, perfect house!

We were three couples and seven kids ages 7-13. The house accommodated everyone wonderfully. Separate bathrooms for each bedroom was a major plus. The location could not have been more perfect. It felt like oceanfront because it was so close to beach access and had such great views. The new terminal groin on the beach made for a lot of space at either point of access, and it wasn’t very crowded at all! The porch was lovely any time of day. Zero complaints!

Great house for family reunion

The size of house was wonderful. We had 12 people: 4 couples, 2 teenager, 2 seniors and everyone had their space. Bathrooms off each bedroom allowed for privacy. Large kitchen and living room allowed for family gathering and eating together. Walking distance to the beach was great, used the provided wagon to carry supplies. Enjoyed the swimming pool and outside grill. Only negitve was the construction that was going on next door, but escaped to the beach to get away from the noise. I suggest to make sure you get the laundry package because you will not have bed sheets or bath towels. We truly enjoyed our stay at the purple house.
