Clamming Trip
First Mates Cottage is a very roomy very clean house, nice and close to good clamming beach area's and our favorite store 'Jack's Country Store'. If you are coming to clam, they have 8 clam guns, altho they aren't the best. They have games for kids. A very big yard and hot tub. Be sure to bring your own presto logs as they only supply two and they are very expensive to purchase on the coast. We were allowed an early check in which was great, fee charged but fine with us. No late check out as they had contractor's coming but again worked out fine as we needed to be on the beach by (am for the clam tide. Can't go wrong with First Mate's, I just wish they had better signage at the entrance to the driveway, and both ways. We missed it every time coming from the beach because the speed limit is 50, so people are right up on you as you are slowly trying to find your turn.

Good space
We had a nice stay at the First Mate house. It's not super fancy or stylish but it was clean and well stocked with a good layout of rooms for our group. It's a bit of a journey to the beach but it's a nice trail. The water is visible from the front decks and we were able to catch some nice sunsets.

HUGE spacious home!
House is very well maintained and super clean! Watch out for pokeys in the grass play area-NOT kid or dog friendly. We learned quickly to skirt that area. Quite a long walk to beach, but beautiful! The hot tub was sublime! Careful with the lid of hot-tub, it’s very heavy and hard to close-but worth it!

Quiet Getaway
This place is perfect for a family or even two families to vacation together if you're looking for quiet, removed from town, but also within 10 minutes of plenty to do, groceries, restaurants, etc. The game room and hot tub are really nice adds to the four bedrooms (two for adults, two for 1-2 kids each). Also, the WiFi was super speedy, which is great since the cell signal is spotty out there. Would stay here again, and possibly with another family/couple (although having 'too much house' isn't a bad way to go for small families like us also).

Fun activities. Fully stocked kitchen and linens. Nice place. Hottub unusable. Upstairs King saggy.
We really loved nearly everything about this place. The location, the household items, linens, nicely done home and decor. However, the 2 things we needed most on this vacation were the hot tub and a good bed. If they fixed those two issues we would definitely come back. It really was very nice otherwise. The hot tub had obviously not been cleaned or maintained. Green algae, hair, yard and tree debris, and slime coated the intake for the pump. The upstairs mattress is very saggy and made it impossible to sleep in. Ended up sleeping on the twin mattress.

We had a very nice stay! We had 6 adults and 2 infants and it was the perfect size for our group. The game room downstairs was fun, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the walk to the beach was short and easy. Communication with the host was very easy. We were very happy with our stay.

Toilet missing from bathroom. Agency knew, failed to warn. Horrible experience.
We could have ignored the neglect - taped broken window, worn paint, inadequate stairs lighting, broken dirty hot tub, splintered hand rail, broken toaster, dangerous slick bottomed tub shower - but not the missing toilet. Our daughter and I made absolutely clear to the rental agent that my wife and I are in our eighties, she with a health history, required a first floor bedroom with nearby bathroom, and minimal stairs. When we arrived we were shocked to see the first floor toilet missing. The agent revealed they knew for some time. My wife and I were forced to climb a flight of dimly lit steep stairs to sleep on the second floor. Our daughter and her family used the bathroom two flights down in the gloomy basement. The agency ignored our situation, offering no alternative lodging.. The distance from the house to the dunes is about .34 miles over a windy, uneven trail A glimpse of the ocean is possible from the house. It is located within a cluster of houses, the nearest maybe fifty feet distant. We would NEVER use Bloomer Estates Vacation Rentals again.

Hi Richard , I am so sorry; this should never have happened. We live in a small town, and it takes time to repair things, especially a wall-mounted toilet rather than floor mounted. We needed particular parts for it. We have a process to notify guests of any inconvenience before they arrive via text, and in this case, this process should have been addressed. The entire company feels terrible for any review below five stars. I believe your stay could have been great if not for the broken toilet, which is now fixed. As the owner, I am doubling down to ensure the process of alerting guests before arrival of anything wrong with the house is followed more closely. Overall a great place
This was a great place for our group. Roomy with enough beds for everyone. The house was maintained well and clean with all of the amenities we could want. On the negative side, the propane was empty for the grill so that was unavailable to us. Also a toilet was broken so we were down a bathroom. The hottub cleaning fee was a little aggravating since we knew we would definitely not be using it. Overall though, we would definitely return again.

Great House and Location
Everything about the house and location were great. It was overall clean and tidy, though there were some things like a broken plastic outdoor chair and broken bench that could've been removed. Also, some deep cleaning under couches, and base of chairs. The house had a big table and sofa sectional that was great for a large group. Lots of kitchen items to make food prep easier. It was a great place. I definitely would stay there again.

Great family experience
Four families (my parents, my siblings, and their families) came together for a fun get-a-way in Long Beach. This house was a great alternative to a hotel — we could easily join together or do things separately as it suited, which was lovely for a family holiday. The beach is about a block away by trail, and it is easy to drive to as well a few blocks away. This was great, as it allowed two folks who had recently had surgery to easily join the group at the beach. The property is also great, as it had lots to do on-site. Since Long Beach commonly is cool and windy, having things to do - camp fires, ping pong, indoor bball, foosball, tons of games and puzzles, horseshoes and a hot tub - helped mean there was always something to do. Long Beach does not have a huge restaurant selection, so we were also happy to do our own cooking. While the accommodations were not luxury for the price, when compared to rooms for the family at a basic hotel, this house was both a better deal, and a better fit for the family. We are happy we made the choice.

Great spot for a family getaway
We had a great family trip at this home! The size and layout was perfect for a large family gathering, and the lawn and easy beach access was great! The home was clean and well stocked with games, bedding, towels and kitchen ware... and we loved using the hot tub! The only odd part of our vacation was that the landscapers came mid-stay and took over the lawn (mowing and weed whacking) for a couple hours. Would be better to schedule lawn work between guests, but besides this we loved our stay.

Fantastic beachfront property
The home is large and well equipped. All the communications, check-in/out instructions and expectations were very clear. The backyard is fantastic and leads to a private trail onto a gorgeous beach. Bald eagles about and the hot tub, fire pit and other amenities create a very relaxing and fun environment for any family get together. Would definitely stay there again.

Great space for a large family!
This home is spacious yet cozy. We utilized every square inch of the property. The kids played in the rec room while the adults played cards with the indoor fireplace roaring. We had a couple evenings by the fire pit after a sunset walk on the private path to the beach. The beds were clean, seating comfortable, and kitchen well stocked with dishes and supplies. We will definitely stay again!

They didn't wash the sheets.
The location was beautiful but they cleanliness of the house was unacceptable. The sheets had dog hair and sweat stains on them and had clearly not been washed. There was a knife left on the counter when we arrived and rugs thrown aside next to the door. The furniture is VERY worn and needs replaced. The blankets were crusty and old. When we took our sheets off of the beds we used and the cases off of the pillows so they would be washed when we left the pillows had sweat stains and were very yellow/brown. There was no light that reached the hot tub or the stairs leading to it so there were several times that we nearly missed the last few steps because we couldn't see. The chairs in the living room were so old that there were holes worn into the upholstery. The location is amazing but everything else could use some simple updates and some serious cleaning, especially during covid...the reviews we saw talked about how wonderfully clean the home was and I don't know if they just ran out of time before we came or what but we expected more. The basketball hoop game and tetherball were deflated, there was sand in the hot tub, the dishwasher isn't installed properly and tips forward when you open the door and pull out a drawer to put dishes in it...I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting to mention but we made the best of our stay and loved being close to the ocean. Hopefully the property owner or manager sees this and makes a few small changes. Some minor, low cost upgrades to the furniture and bedding would make a major difference in how we felt about our stay.

Hi Jessica, this should never happen! Some quick items: 1) We and our cleaners pride ourselves on 5-star cleanliness reviews. This should never happen and will be replacing the cleaner. Rest assured the next guest will come into a spotless house. 2) The new owners have purchased all new furniture which will be arriving in the next few weeks. We will update the photos as soon it is in place. 3) We will look at all new blankets and comforters. 4) We will be looking to add lights to the hot tub. 5) Chairs are being replaced as I write this. 6) Will replace weather balls, basketballs and fix the new dishwasher. You are right, these are relatively easy fixes, and the furniture was ordered weeks ago-just hasn't arrived yet. Great place with 5 min private walk to beach. Huge yard with Volleyball net, Horseshoes and more. Hot tub that works great. Kitchen with just about everything you need. Fireplace that warms the whole main floor if you choose to go during the winter like we did. Ping pong and foosball for indoor activities. Great little place.

Nice place to stay with the family with ample room for all. The house is roomy and the kitchen is large. I got the impression that improvements are in progress, but overall the place is comfortable. Great location!
We loved this location, the house is situated within a five minute walk to the beach. Huge yard with horse shoe pits and volley ball. The only reason I rated it a 3/4 is the house could use updating. The furniture needs to be refreshed it’s showing it’s age. The paint, the flooring all feels very 1992. Very clean and great size otherwise. Great experience with the Management company as well, they were friendly and helpful.

Great family getaway
Great home and location. Clean and comfortable. Any issue we had was addressed immediately. The neighbors at the adjacent property let their dogs roam free but they were only there two days during our stay and not much can be done about that. Wonderful stay and we would definitely stay at this property again.

Great beach getaway!
We had family out for the Easter weekend, enjoyed the roomy house and huge yard! Sunny weather allowed us to play volley ball, tetherball and horseshoes, enjoyed roasting marshmallows by the evening campfire. The house was very clean, fun game room in basement. The bedding was a bit sparse, as we needed to push the twin beds together for couples staying those rooms and didn't find extra king sheets and blankets. But all in all, a great family place for us, we would come back again!

spring break 2019
we were pleased with our vacation rental. the home had everything we needed for our family of 6. the game room downstairs was a bonus for the kids for the rainy days and evenings. the walk to the beach is an easy one. grocery store and coffee shop are close. the home was clean. the property manager (Kathy) was amazing. the only reason I give this home a 4 is due to it needing some upgrading. a couple pieces of the furniture were broken, shower head upstairs needs fixed, ping pong table net broke, hot tub needed water.... nothing major. just simple overlooked things that unless they manager is made aware of she would never know. we had some issues with the neighbors renting the property/house next door . they were letting their big dogs run, and doing fireworks on the beach. I made Kathy aware and she was very prompt and willing to resolve the issues! we would definitely stay here again.

Great get away
Our 2 families and dogs loved this place. Its a great location, great deck, very quiet and has private beach access. The game room was fun for the kids. We went in the winter, so didn't expect great weather, but it turned out to be fantastic. We hardly left the property for 3 days. We had a few issues when we first arrived, but management was very quick to respond. The house is a great layout and well appointed with everything you need. The finishes are a bit dated and worn, with a few minor functional annoyances, but overall a great place to stay. Thanks!
