Me, my wife & 3mo old son booked this unit for a 5-day stay but left early due to heat & other issues. Though the listing mentioned no AC, we missed it, I’ve lived most of my life in CA where AC is standard due to frequent heat waves. It’s also a safety issue for families with young children, as infants can’t regulate their temperature, and temps over 72°F increase the risk of SIDS.
Without AC, screens are essential, but lack of a screen door meant bugs swarmed in, especially at night when temps dipped below 75°F for only a few hours. The average indoor temp was around 80°F, making it uncomfortable and sticky. The unit’s location near a main road meant constant road noise, and worse, a train blaring its horn twice an hour. I commend anyone who can sleep through that with the windows open.
The host was responsive to our concerns, but their solution was for us to pay over $300 for an AC unit. We didn’t think it was fair to fix their issue at our expense, but eventually arranged for a portable AC temporarily.
Other issues spoiled our stay. The morning after arrival, the water was cut off from 9AM-12PM. The unit was gross—old shag carpeting felt dirty & the furniture was stained. We had to lay towels on the futon/couch to sit. When the neighboring unit was sprayed for ants, they invaded our bathroom, taking over our toiletries. The spa area was under construction as well.
While the complex is well-located & feels like a transplant from Hawaii, This unit was less than ideal.
