"The area is lovely. Staff was great and so was the hotel breakfast and dinner. The lobby and other community areas were great. The only reason for giving the hotel three stars overall rating is that the bathroom was outdated - the hotel was celebrating a one year opening so I was surprised at the outdated bathroom condition. The public bath was extremely clean and much appreciated after the walk between Magome and Tsumago. Not a complaint, but more of a comment is that the mattresses were very firm. Though this seemed to be the trend at the other hotels we stayed at in Japan. You will need to remove and lock up your shoes in the lobby. This is common at ryokan and some hotels in Japan. Though, you can certainly tell it keeps the carpets in the hallways and rooms much cleaner in general. Would definitely recommend staying at Onn for anyone planning to stay in Nakatsugawa"
