More than we bargained for

The property and grounds were clean and well kempt. We found the home well suited for 10 total guests of 6 adults and 4 children. The kids room had an adorable nook for our youngest, a rollout trundle bed and two twin beds. Additionally, the kids room had its own bathroom, which was great. There are two other bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs.I'd like to highlight that this property had a ton of nice to haves. There were an abundance of beach toys, games (cornhole, plastic axe throwing, spikeball, badminton, volleyball), bikes for the family and maybe 8 beach chairs. The kitchen was completely stocked with cookware and utensils. For indoor entertainment the hosts had directTV, a dvd player with dvds, streaming services, board games for adults and kids, puzzles and a playstation 3 with games.I would highly recommend this home. My family had such a wonderful time together. The location is perfect for families or anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation.

Ideal Home for a Celebration

We had a family celebration here and it was perfect for the occasion. The home is one of the best we've ever rented and has everything you need. Very well appointed. Someone was very thoughtful in stocking the kitchen with everything you might need. The bedrooms are a nice size and the beds all got good reviews for comfort. The bathrooms are beautifully done. Some living room furniture is showing wear and could stand to be replaced.

Great Location! Poor Quality and Description

The house is beautiful but poorly maintained. The couch and rug in the living room are dirty. We rented when it was cold and specifically looked for a property with a fireplace which was not working when we arrived. We called the property manager and were told that the remote had to be re-ordered and paired but wouldn't be done for our weekend. They knew before and we were not notified. The oven temperature knob on the oven was broken so we couldn't calibrate the temperature. The cupboard doors were falling off in the kitchen and rusty. All fans were filthy we cleaned them. If you want to sit on the beach do not rely on their beach chairs they are rusty and I believe meant for kids not adults. Overall a very well stocked kitchen and nice house but definitely needs some love.

Adorable and stylish bungalow on the sand!

This super-stylish bungalow is on the sand, a stone's throw from the roaring surf. It is exactly as advertised: the rooms are decorated by someone with a real interest in design and aesthetic, the kitchen is very well-stocked with good quality pots and pans (not the usual crappy rental stuff), the garage chock-full of sand toys, bikes, even helmets! And, the piece de resistance: a ping-pong table with plenty of balls and paddles. There are four bedrooms-- all very attractively furnished and impeccably clean. The two "master" bedrooms on the second floor have fabulous views of the ocean. Oh, and the paperback books in the house are a wonderful touch. Great, literary stuff--again, not the usual left-behinds of cheap mysteries and beach reads. Our kids loved their room-- complete with a Play Station and the world's coziest loft--and that they could play on the beach while my husband and I could sit with our coffees inside the house and keep on eye on them. Overall, it is a lovely little super-stylish beach cottage. If I had to include the downsides, it would be that such a lovely house is really anamolous on that stretch of beach. Ninety percent of the houses are ghastly. In fact, the bungalow is wedged between two fortress-like monstrosities. There needs to be better zoning in the neighborhood! Taking a walk both up and down the beach, my husband and I couldn't believe how ugly the vast majority of the houses are. Fortunately, when you're sitting in the bungalow, you don't really see them! The other drawback was the blinds. They are quite cheap and consequently don't work or fall off as you try to raise or lower them. I would advise the owner to perhaps invest in some better-quality blinds. But overall, a wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend it! Definitely the best place in Oxnard by far.

Outstanding

We've been renting houses beachside for over 30 years. This is one of the best properties we've ever had. We went off the beaten path to look for quiet area and we got what we were looking for. Bedrooms are all solid. You don't hear much from the other folks in the house in any way. We've always had an issue with 2 story properties and noise ... not this one! Kitchen is incredibly well appointed. High quality cookware and dishware, and even plastics for the porch and patio. Viking stove is fun to cook on, and the hood clears all smoke, so cook well! The 'kids' room has a great cubby that sleeps a child. We had our son in the bed, and our daughter slept on the floor and they loved their little space. Playstation was nice for my son and me. A short walk/bike ride (bikes and locks are provided) away is a great little bakery. Wonderful fresh baked goods. They made cupcakes on the fly for my son's 7th birthday. Ordered at 1, ready by 4. We also had a beautiful lemon cake earlier in the day. You'll have a hard time NOT wanting to be there every morning for donuts. The pizza place is good too (cash only) and the micro-brewery (no food) had very good beer. Buy a growler and bring it back to the house to drink. Thank G-d for the corner store there as well. Not just booze, but also some groceries. My recommendation? Bring nothing but your clothes, because they have just about everything you need ... from games, to boogie boards, to bikes, to cookware, to towels. They've done a wonderful job thinking of just about everything. Only negatives: A lock wasn't working, but was fixed promptly and without any problem. Also there is tar in the sands here and there. My mother and two sisters both had big blobs that they stepped on on accident. It isn't everywhere ... I was fine and so were my kids. They have a drawer with stuff to clean your feet though!

Perfect location, great home!

Aside from some very minor issues with items that needed attention (broken window lever in one of the ocean view rooms, so we could not close completely, the faucet in kitchen sink is loose, and dishwasher operation is rough), the home was in great shape. The pictures are a true representation of the home and we were very comfortable there. The kitchen was very well stocked and organized! The outdoor decks, both in front of the house and behind it were a great hang out spot. The ping pong table in the garage was also great entertainment for our family. The kids room was very nicely setup and super fun! We will definitely be back!The only improvement, I would recommend is that the sofa in the living room was on the smaller side and not as comfortable for all of our family to gather together (it also could have used a cleaning). A larger sofa or sectional would be a huge improvement.

Our Second Stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My friends and I stayed at this house with our two families several years ago. The house is great, but we may be outgrowing it at this point (4 adults, 5 kids ages 9, 5, 5, 3, and 2). One of the trundle mattresses was missing in the kids rooms so we had to do a cosleep situation with the youngest kid, but other than that, it was good. The additional bedrooms are clean and comfortable, but should probably have two kings upstairs. Also, the king bed has been well worn in since our last stay and could probably use replacing. There is also something to be said about simplifying the items kept in the kitchen. With so many utensils in the house, it was hard to find exactly what you were looking for, but too easy to find something that wasn't cleaned thoroughly. There are some things in the home that were wonky last time, and still remain wonky still- namely the poorly installed dishwasher that sounds like you're breaking it every time you open or close it- do yourself a favor and bring paper plates! Lastly, the salty air has done its fair share of damage to the home so it may be time to replace some fixtures and knobs that are rusting. I know that this doesn't sound like a positive review- we really did enjoy our stay- and we would recommend this rentals to others (in fact we did to a beach passerby who inquired).

Perfect Quiet Beach Retreat

This place was adorable and a perfect beach getaway. The house building itself is older but the owners did a wonderful job renovating it inside. There are four spacious bedrooms, three of them with large beds and the fourth perfect for kids with two twins plus an adorable loft bed. Plenty of bathrooms too. The house is right on the beach, which was nice and quiet with very few people (we stayed in December so maybe it's busier in the summer). The kitchen is fully stocked with dinnerware and cookware, along with very nice Viking appliances. There is plenty of parking for cars (we had three). Lots of activity items are stored in the garage (bikes, sand toys, a new ping pong table, etc.). Overall this is a wonderful place to bring your family or to stay at with a few friends.

Anniversary

We have been lucky to have rented this home for 4 times now. We go for our anniversary. We love the home and the area. The house is clean and everything we need is supplied. There are plenty of towels, kitchenware, kitchen appliances and beach toys. My only criticism is the couch. The couch is too small a bigger couch or sectional would be great. Can’t wait to go back next year.

Home in Paradise

This two story home was what a beach house should be. Loved the homey feeling. Not over decorated. Every room was updated. The beds were comfortable and clean. It was nice having one bedroom downstairs. The views were amazing from every room.

Great location, but some problems

The location can't be beat, right on the oceanfront. You can watch surfers and dolphins right from the house and deck. This is one of the older, quaint beach cottages that are left, most of the original houses have been torn down for large monstrosities. There were some real problems though: for one they advertise four bicycles. We were really counting on daily bike riding as that is our main source of exercise at our home. In the garage were two adult size bikes and one child's bike. The bikes had completely flat tires, broken brakes and the tire pump does not work. So the bikes are not operable. That was really disappointing. Second: ants, they even tell you in the guidebook there will be ants and deal with it. Ants in the kitchen, ants in the pantry, ants in the shower etc.. We bought ant traps and put them around. There was no laundry detergent so we had to get that as well. Some of the kitchen equipment was dirty like pots, pans, etc. The master king size bed is super soft, if you like a firm mattress it is not good. The couch in living room really uncomfortable. The Viking range in the kitchen; the knob for the oven fell off every time we tried to use and it was difficult to get the oven temperature to the proper degrees. Previous renters left all this garbage strewn on the side of the garage, I told the manager and he said they would come clean it up, they never did. So there were some issues, but overall the house is really cute and in the great location. I just wish they would fix these problems I have mentioned.

Beautiful beach house..

This was our third time staying at the beautiful beach house. The house has everything you will need to enjoy your stay. We enjoy cooking meals here and looking out at the amazing view of the ocean. We saw dolphins every day we were there. You are literally on the beach. Lots of beach toys to enjoy too. Very clean and quiet. A new couch might be needed in the near future. Would highly recommend this rental. Management Company is easy to work with too. I will definitely rent again.
