Not horrible, but many downsides compared to other stays.
• General:
o Paint the house numbers white or silver or gold or something. They cannot be read from the road.
o Echo-y inside the main part of house. Need some sound abatement. Put down more area rugs. Hang some tapestries on 3-4 walls. Ikea stuff……
o Fireplace doesn’t draft properly, and it smoked up the interior. We tried the draft in both positions, tried leaving the back door ajar a bit. We have a fireplace at home which we use a lot – so we have experience. We wasted money on the firewood, AND had no “atmospheric” fire on nights 2 and 3.
o Radiant heat in the flooring isn’t consistent. The only warm floor in the big bathroom is over by the closet.
o Written instructions neede on operating the TV, DVR and closing up the house when checking.
• Entry foyer:
o Need a bench in the entry foyer. Easier to take off shoes and put on slippers as requested.
o Entry foyer needs higher wattage sconces. Too dim.
o Hooks for coats needed in foyer. So no tracking in sand to put coats in closet before changing into slippers.
• Dining Room:
o Need seat cushions on the dining room bench and chairs. Older “sit-bones” would appreciate it.
o Most southerly window in the dining area rattles a LOT in stormy weather
o No place mats for dining table
o Dining table should be oiled or finished or something. It feels unclean somehow.
• Kitchen:
o Light over the kitchen stove should be brighter
o Ice maker dispenser frozen solid – doesn’t work.
o Dish washer – bottom rack had the rear roller-wheels in the wrong position. We moved them forward and Voila!, the bottom water spinner now works. No charge.
• Living room:
o In the living room – Need a coffee table! And side tables.
o Configure the furniture in a cozier arrangement. A better conversation grouping.
o One more armchair in living room would help. The sectional sofa is too soft and formless to sit for long
• Lighting:
o Lighting is impersonal and industrial – add some task lighting
Table lamps on living room side tables
Two desk lamps on dining table
• Master bedroom:
o install a long shelf on the wall above the headboard – about a foot above the headboard
o Bedside table lamps in Master suite (or little wall sconces lower on the wall). The current lighting is too stark and we had to get out of bed to turn off the lights after reading, before sleeping.
• Bunk beds:
o Some sort of reading light needed at each bunk
