  • The Gem Theatre (previously known as Kinema Theatre, Hub Theatre) was built in 1909. In 1924, one of the reels of film got stuck in the projector and caught fire, igniting a full reel in the lower magazine. Only the outer shell of the theater survived the fire. The Kinema was rebuilt "as near fireproof as possible" and reopened in 1924. The Kinema Theatre was renamed the Hub Theatre in 1928. In 1933, the theatre was renovated and renamed it the Gem Theatre. After the advent of television, the theater could not attract large enough crowds to pay film rental fees. The Gem Theatre closed about 1986. The title of the last movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, remained on the marquee for ten years as the theater sat idle. Sometime after this the theater was again damaged by fire. Mark Childs, owner of Childs Construction, and his wife Heather, a retired dancer, purchased the Gem Theatre in April 2010, after moving to Panguitch from Henderson, Nevada.  After replacing the building's fire-damaged roof, the Childs rebuilt the Gem Theatre's interior and reopened it on 28 May 2011. #OnTheRoad

The staff was a little odd and they took a picture of my credit card and ID even tho I paid beforehand online so I’m a little concerned. The room was also dirty so we didn’t end up staying there and left without being able to get a refund. I seriously am concerned about them taking a picture of my cards when I asked not too, they just ignored my request

Check-in man was nice. Office was gross and the room was even grosser. Heater doesn’t work in the room so there’s a mini heater sitting on the bedside stand. Hairs and tiny dead bugs in the sheets. We left.

Closely located to Bryce Canyon and Red Canyon park entrances. Older property that’s in good shape. A separate heater warmed the room before I entered which was appreciated because it was very cold that night. Plenty of hot water available. Quiet and easy parking.

1. Advertised pet friendly and then they charge me an extra $10 for the pet. 2. No Tissue/Kleenex box 3. Be Warned - heating is from a wall/space heater on the other side of the bedroom. Even when cranked to the max 86° the room stayed very very cold very very uncomfortable. I am going to be asking for a refund from hotels.com. 4. 30 minutes into my stay, the power went off in the room. It took them about another half an hour to monkey around what was going on. The maintenance guy or gal was clueless. I had to tell them to check the circuit breaker panel, which was the problem breaker tripped. 5. Towels dirty/stained. Disgusting. They must not know of the chemical bleach. 6. Shower Head was loose and sprayed water everywhere! 7. Shower ceiling was dirty with yellow stains. Gross. 8. There is no continental breakfast. 9. Overall, unless they're only vacancy in town, I'm not gonna be staying here anytime soon. 10. The coat rack is above the microwave – ridiculous - unusable.
